Fuel injector adaptors

I am lucky enough to have a close connection with an auto parts store so i get thing at a great price, I got ahold of a set of injectors the Chrysler oem ones and need to go from a ev6 to a ev1 plug, what do you guys recommend and what fits? The cable type or the all plastic one? I only have a pulley, Alta cai, and a dt bpv, with colder plugs and probably going to do the 180 thermostat before I visit Jan at RMW. Thoughts??

It really depends on how much space there is between the plug on the injector and the inter cooler. Based on that you can look and see what is best. The ones with the wire are going to work now matter what I would think.

just curious... do you even know what spray pattern these "Chrysler oem ones" have ?
just because they are "bigger" doesn't mean they work well with your engine :?

They are probably off a neon, basically the same engine. They will probably work well enough.

One thong to note....
the tri-tec neon was never sold in the us/north american market....it was built/installed exvlusivly for export neons in some markets that needed a lower hp/cheaper neon.....so regular neon injectors sold in the us are different...

If your changing out a part at crucial as a fuel injector, you really should get the right part...

You wouldn't install a crank shaft that was "close enough", would you? Or brake pads that kinda fit...

Mini started it!!! They essentially put a neon motor in the R50 and went from there. Fuel injector have certain specs and things that are common, just becuase they are not "original" parts does that mean they will not work. At this point the technology for the R53 has been tried and proven not much more experimenting going on anymore. Thank you for all the responses! I love this board and look forward to posting more!

Key is "export" neon.....the r50 motor as I previously stated was NEVER SOLD IN THE US/CANADA....it simply did not have the power needed for the market....it was sold in secondary markets.......
It was a different motor than the us/north american cars...
Get the part number from an location where the neon with the tri-tec was sold....or the location of the current factory....it was litterly boxed up and moved from brizil to china...and is still in production....
I just warn you to proceed careful so you don't get stuck with parts you can't use....
good luck, and I hope you source for stuff can get you some deals on the right stuff.

a tiny tri-tec history lesson....

PS
the tri-tec motor was a joint venture/co desgin by the old independent dodge/cryslier and bmw....before a cororate merger made the venture quite odd...two competing german companies both sharing a motor...lol....the venture was terminated, and bmw teamed up with fiat for the gen 2 motor....and they were so er....impressed with it....they are desginng the gen 3 in house.....
bmw/mini realized early on that a low volume car could not justify the devolpment costs of a new motor on its own....it had to share....and another us company (dodge)wanted a cheap, motor to reduce the costs of a car they wanted to export...in very limited numbers...and vola....partnership...
the tritec was made if I remember right in 3 versions....
a very basic low end...
a middle r50 version (actually also sold as a lower displacemet motor in some locations like greece due to tax/ecnomic/marketing reasons).
The 3rd version, the r53 motor was the top end.....it had some pretty signafigant changes to ensure a longer service life...forged parts, oil jets added....lots of interesting stuff....also made it much more $$ than the bottom end cheap motor....
and mini chose what was at the time, a high end engine computer from Bosh..called pentagon....
BOSH speclizes in supplying 2nd tier....ie smaller auto companies....with parts so they don't have to desgin them in house....
I bet $$ the neon had a different computer....so the injectors may very well be a different type....and the fact the neon motor made less power than any of the mini motors....kinda makes the injector swap foolhardy imo.

The motors are all derived from the same thing. In any event unless the injectors are way undersized or the spray pattern is radically different as long as they fit they should work. Maybe not as well as real "MINI" injectors, but fuel is still going to get into the combustion chamber in a reasonable atomized manner. Basically as long as it is spraying in some sort of cone (which while not ideal in ALL cases is typically adequate) then they will be fine.

Dont forget there was the SRT4 Neon, which had either 440's or 550's (drawing a blank), which you can definitely use as a source for MINI injectors.
