I just got back from the VW dealer and they had the part in stock for $100. Install will begin shortly. I did notice that most of the VW part is still plastic just the internal plunger was metal.

Part installed. Very easy install, just hard to actually see the 3rd bolt on the bottom side of the diverter valve. My factory part looked in great condition, no signs if it started to wear out. The VW part is defenitly a better design as there is no rubber diaphram to tear or melt. Total install from start to finish took about 30 minutes taking my time not in a rush.

Now off for a little test drive to see if I notice any improvement. I don't think I will notice much since the factory one was looking pretty good. I have 40k miles on the factory one if anyone is interested.

Ok, after a few miles of driving I can say the boost recovers faster after shifting gears and as a by product of faster recovery I see higher boost levels upon acceleration after shifting.

So I installed my AccessPORT Stage 1 + FMIC tune today. I was out for a drive (not even a hard drive) and the car goes into boost. I hear a whooshing sound sort of like a sneeze. Sounds like all boost is being vented to atmosphere. Now the car does this whenever boost builds. Did I pop a hose off or is this what it sounds like when the diverter valve goes bad?

The div doesnt vent to atmosphere. Did you get proper connections on your intercooler piping?

Just got home and haven't pulled it into the garage and jacked it up yet. Going to check things right now.

Is it when you are under boost or when you let off the gas?

If it's while boosting I'd check your hose connections to the fmic to make sure they aren't leaking.

I understand it this will keep more boost in between shifts but will it help/hinder an automatic as the car shifts itself? I would think the car might still keep more boost between shifts but is there a possibility the car would wait longer for the boost pressure to relax during the shift?

Just got myself a 710D from Audi...highly highly recommended to anyone, especially those running higher boost.

The Alta spring idea is great and all, but it doesn't change the fact that you will still have a rubber diaphragm in your DV that is weak and prone to tears. If anyone came from the VW/Audi world, they will know the 710N was also a popular replacement DV, but the 710D is the newest DV from VAG, like others have said, its made for the TT-S and S3 motor. It is a complete metal-piston type dv....so it completely does away with the rubber diaphragm. When you see the two side by side, the 710D is clearly a much better design. Just swap the internals into your DV and you're good to go.

Boost is a ton smoother, boost response is a ton quicker, and it is a lot quieter than the stock/JCW DV. This one is the way to go...

Now if I could just run 23psi....

K so....just was out driving the car some more....and I've come to the conclusion that this is one of my fav mods I've ever done to the car.

It's soooo simple, yet completely adds a level of responsiveness and smoothness that has never been there, it amazing.

You should all do yourselves a favor and go support your local Audi dealer by buying one of these

Think I may have to order one of these ASAP! I was thinking I'd wait until the stock part got old but it sounds like the improvement is good enough to do it now.

Yea trust me...I'm usually hard to impress with these "simple, but makes a huge difference" mods. Im convinced people just think they are making a bigger difference than they really are. Like the polyurethane torque arm inserts for the motor mount that everyone always raves about....I have one but never saw why people thought it was such a great mod. Doesn't make that big of a difference.

This though....is grrrreeeat. Really changes the drivability of the car. Those that like the BOV sound noise of the stock dv might be disappointed though...the 710D is pretty darn silent (I have an open intake too), it's worth it though.

And you shouldn't have to order it, my audi dealer had a ton in stock. VW should have them too.

I can live without the noise as long as it produces results. Sounds like it does.

This will definitely be my next mod!
