RMW dyno tune in CT, April 11-14 sign up now.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

First time slot is 9 AM (they can't run dyno until about 9:30) Let me know of any issues that we can help with.

Shawn at Swift is all set for April 11th - 14th for us now. It is Monday to Thursday. Now there is plenty of time to think of stories for bosses, teacher, wives etc. You all deserve a day off, so, put your thinking caps on and pick a place in the schedule. We still are going for 100% accomodations, though I realise this may not be practical. The timing works fine for me, and this seems to be best for Jan. A happy Jan = maximun torque. (Theorum below for proof)

Torque = Jan x happy/sleep loss

Dyno fees are $100.

Tune money goes to Jan and is not included in dyno fees.
r53 $350.00
r56 $500.00

retunes
$50.00 (dimsport)
Accessport if bought though Alta - $100
if bought through RMW - FREE

I will be there no matter what the date. For now I am starting a list like in the Rochester Thread...I am giving a lunch break to Jan for now, or whatever. We can always tighten it up.

Needing to install injectors myself, I am picking 11AM so I can get there early, and do whatever I need to do on the first day. First ones of the day should be just tune, without any work. More work needed, the later in the day for the tune itself (I am guessing this is good) Plan on getting there early and staying late for maximum mininess.

Please post your preferred times, for now I want to keep it in one thread so those subscribed will get notice.
All topics of discussion are encouraged.

HRM - Thanks for putting this together. Put me down for 9:30 on Tuesday. Louise will be needing a re-tune with the exhaust work coming up. That will get her in top shape for MOTD!!

Just wanted to say that I'm sorry it is early for some, I certainly can understand, but.... I have been waiting since last year's tune and for me it can't come early enough. It would be great if the timing ended up being OK for you somehow as well.

Anyone wanting to watch and hang out is welcome too. Personally, I am really interested in just seeing it done myself. Shawn at Swift sounded very happy to have Jan back, and it should be fun.

Also, for the record....HRM = Chris

I was under the impression that a re-tune from Jan was at no charge if there have not been any additional mods done to the car since the last tune.

Obviously you have to pay for the dyno time.

Can someone correct me if I am wrong.

I had to search my emails for it, but I had asked Jan how much a retune would be, and he said retunes are $100.
But in HRM's threads, it's showing $50 for a retune. I'm bring extra money just in case.

Totally understandable!

I just don't want to get there and not have enough when it comes time to pay him. He's worth it regardless. lol
Unless he lowered his prices of retunes since last year? I suppose that could be. The email I have is almost a year old.

Hrmmmmmmmm.....

Got a reply from Jan. $50 for a re-tune on Gen 2 cars + the dyno time at Swift.

Put me in for 2:30 on wednesday ... I'm gonna ditch my plans right now to install a cam and header and just go with a tune.

Right now I have 17%, cai, exhaust and light wieght crank.. I'm debating what size injectors to order, 380cc vs 450cc And where is the best and cheapest place to get them... Any one have a set of 380 cc laying around for cheap?

Unexpected, maybe call swift and see if they can help/do the work on your tune day. Get there early and dig in. It isn't too difficult of a job for a cam. The header will not need much tweaking compared to the cam. Just a suggestion.

For what its worth, I would choose a tune over the cam and header myself. You will have much more bang from the tune if it is a $ thing. No doubt a cam will be nice, but the tune in the meantime will be sweet on its own.

Sign me up for Wednesday at 11AM please! I don't need anything new, just a tune on what mods I already have. I'm so excited! Is there anything I need to know/do ahead of time before I come in?

One thing that was recommended by Jan before last years tune was that the fuel filter be replaced and the air filter be cleaned. The fuel filter was not a fun job, but it's doable. I used a K&N cleaning kit for the air filter that I bought from AutoZone, worked very well. Just had to wash the foam filter with some soap and water to get all the gunk off first. lol

As long as your maintenance items (oil and filter, air filter, etc) are up to date then all should be well. Also make sure you have a fresh set of spark plugs.

Additionally with your R53 make sure the belt is good on the supercharger. If your belt is loose or worn it will slip at high RPMs costing you power at the top end. There is an indicator you can check on the R53 to determine excessive belt wear or stretching. The factory JCW belt is not tight enough for the higher percentage reduction pulleys. Their is a lot of information on NAM about this. You know how to reach me if you have more questions.
