Forgive my ignorance, I'm a little new to this process with Jan and RMW.

I have a 2010 R56 - I'd like an RMW tune + dyno to maximize its affectiveness against my mods which are, OBX catless DP + OBX midpipe and WMW cat-back as well as a useless JCW airbox.

I figure I will need the Accessport or whatever OBD2 flash tool as I do not have this yet.

Can someone break down for me the costs to participate and purchase this and whom to pay?

Thanks in advance!

From the first page, the details are this:

Dyno fees are $100. (that's paid to Swift Motorsports directly before you leave their garage)

Tune money goes to Jan and is not included in dyno fees.
r53 $350.00
r56 $500.00 (since you have an R56, this would be the cost for Jan to tune your Mini)

retunes
$50.00 (dimsport)
Accessport if bought though Alta - $100
if bought through RMW - FREE
(This gets a bit fuzzy for me, as I found out that the Accessport is only for the R56's, and cannot be used for the R53's. Hoping someone else can clarify this portion, as I'm sorry that I cannot.)

Hi,

I would like to book 4pm on Monday. This is the only day I can attend. If an earlier slot becomes available on that day then please move me up.

Many thanks.

Keith.

Getting parts from Jan?

If you want/need parts from Jan, you might want to buy them on his site so you don't have to worry about availability. That would go for the accessport or the dimsport too. No sense in making him carry them all over the north east or worse, you not having what you need because of lost luggage.

All the information is available on Jan's site
http://revolutionmini.com

You can get either the Dimsport flash tool or the Alta AccessPORT.

The cost of the tune is not included with the Dimsport flash tool. The tune costs $500.00

I believe the tune is included with the Alta AccessPORT.

If I'm correct the price is close to the same either way you go.

Payment information is available on Jan's site. From the last tune I hosted for Jan he accepted Paypal and cash.

As for the JCW air box, if you have the JCW tuning kit air box with the right filter it moves a lot of cold air into the engine. It's efficient, unlike a lot of the after market cold air intakes that actually hurt your performance. It provides cold air to the engine from outside the engine compartment.

Good luck on the tune and remember, good gas, clean air filter, fresh oil, proper tire pressure and fresh spark plugs are best going into the tune.

I hope this helps!

The NGK ILZKBR7A-8G (5992) spark plug should be a match for the R56 spark plug. The dealer is about $20.00 per plug. Check elsewhere.

I hope this helps!
It does - thanks!
Put me down please for Thursday 1PM.
Will order the Accessport in advance so I will just need a re-tune on the dyno for my mods.

Disregard my information about the spark plug type. Just got news that those probably won't fit!!!

I'm so excited! That said, I have an 11AM slot. I'd like to hang out as long as I can, but in case my babysitter has other plans, what is the minimum amount of time this will take? I need to set clear expectations on the sitter. :-)

Plan on your drive down and back and then add 1.5 hours for the tune. Any extra time you spend will be up to you. Don't forget your with "The MINI Tuning Sensei" It's a learning experience every time he tunes.

Oh trust me I want to be able to hang out as long as I possibly can! But I needed to know the reality first. :-)

You guys are going to have some big grins on your way home!!!

Little tip for you R53 guys, a smoke test to insure that there is no leaks is money well spent. Actually think smoke test should be part of a regular maintenance program with our cars anyway...

Can't wait to hear and see the tune results!!

Important Announcement!!!!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

Looks like I made a error in times available. Swift can not run the dyno so early because of noise laws. Therefore, all times must be moved forward one hour.

First time slot is 9 AM (they can't run dyno until about 9:30)

Let me know if we need to juggle anyone around.

Noon is much better for me actually, as it will give me more time to hang out as the squirt will be in preschool, mwahahahaha...

As long as poor Jan gets a chance to eat properly, I've now taken over his old lunch time!

That Marine training comes in handy

I figured you could eat like a wolf (standing up after grabbing something and swallowing in one bite) but, I tried to be a bit civilized during planning so wiggle room would be around for "issues" or "challenges" that arise.

Everyone should get there early and we can keep things moving no matter what happens. I am looking forward to it.

So should I order the Accessport off of your website and bring it with me?, or will you be having some on hand in CT?

If you order it, you can run the canned tune for the meantime which will be fun as hell. Also, this way you don't have to worry about lost luggage. ...
