RMW dyno tune in CT, April 11-14 sign up now.
Awesome, will be placing my order shortly.
Just ordered the AP from your website! I am looking forward to the tune. Just to be clear though, from what others have said in this thread. A new/first tune for me on the dyno in CT now would be $50 and be considered a RE-tune since the AP will be coming with a base RMW tune? Anyone can chime in, sorry for my confusion
No, my understanding is you just need $100 for the dyno, your tune there will be the first, retune next year after you spend $$$$ on other stuff. ("bought the accesstune from Jan = free") The tune that comes with your tool will give you a huge part of the gain you will see, so don't underestimate it. Jan will get the last stuff right so it runs properly through the RPM range and squeeze the last of the ponies out. Every car is a bit different and the standard tunes have to be safe for everyone, so there will be a ways to go from that starting point.
I just got my new injectors from Jan today, so I am set and so are you blueminicabrio.

I was at the dealer today and had them order some new o-rings for the injectors. (pricey lil buggers
)
order now because I won't have room to carry all the extra parts etc
Don't mean to hijack the thread, quick question: are you planning a trip to Dallas anytime soon Jan? I hear great things about your tunes so hoping you can work your magic on my car someday.
Ok will do! Sorry to be such a noob, but do I only need to order the flash tool for now or do I order the tune as well?
The dyno as it can get hectic
I will be heading to the dragon next month
not finalized the route yet
Sorry to hear it. I took you off the schedule for now, but I hope things work out where you can come by.
Anyone who can tighten up the schedule on Tuesday or Wednesday, chime in. We rearranged Monday to help folks out, maybe we can do the same for the other days.

This may help you understand the differences:

Jan is an expert MINI tuner and your results are specific to your MINI when you can get a DYNO tune with Jan on your MINI. The canned tune on the AP is just that; a generic MINI tune. Every MINI is different. You will always get much better result from a live DYNO tune.
Big Al, Another way to think of it is preprogramed tunes have to be safe for all cars, all areas. (No 93 octane in parts of the Country). A tune on the dyno lets the tuner see how your car is running as far a the mixture and timing. He can adjust it to the highest settings while still making sure you are within safe limits. Colorado has altitude, some cars have different pulleys etc.
So the personalized tune will get the most of the situation and car. The AP gives you much of the gains you will see, but the dyno will bump it up.
Besides...dynos are cool and you can see how future mods effect performance.
Having the AP (which is cool in itself) and a custom tune will be the one best thing you ever do to your car. Nothing will give you the same bang for the buck. It is reversable for going to the shop, and the only downside is the smile lines your face will have.
You are all set DTsoccer...have fun.

Thanks guys. I really want to come now but it looks like I'd have to play hooky from work on Monday only to do it. Also, I was planning on having the helix fmic installed soon. Would it be pointless to do the tune before I do that? Would they install it at swift prior to the tune if I can get it in time?
NP, if things should change, you can see the slots open and are welcome to come down.
Al, This is Swifts website link.

It would be best to call them and see what they say. I image yes, no problem. It can also be a parking lot install since I don't think you need a lift or special tools.
Monday is the only full day, maybe someone can swap days. I have moved my time for 3 folks to fit people in, so it seems to be the most adjusted day. On the other days, I don't think anyone has moved from first choice. Lets see what happens.

Well, I may not be attending afterall. I have been desperately trying to locate a Stratmosphere or Miltek exhaust prior to my tune, but both are sold out nationwide I'm told by the US distributor.
Anyone with a lead let me know!!!
I will confirm whether or not I can come in the next day or two, but it doesn't look good. And correct me if I'm wrong, but the tune won't be worth it if I know I'm gonna change the exhaust in a couple of months right? I was thinking I would then just go with Jan's "canned" tune for now and hopefully he will come this way again sometime and I can get the real deal when and if that happens.

I don't think an exhaust will make much difference unless you have headwork to go with it. No doubt it will give you more top end, but most usable torque (day to day) is lower end and the stock exhaust is fine for most of the RPM range. It would be nice to have it done, but I think it isn't anything close to a deal breaker. Now if you said you are putting a big valve head, injectors soon, that is different all together in my mind. By getting Jan to know your car, his adjustments for a larger exhaust will probably be minor tweaks. Just my 2 cents.
