17% Pulley & This?

http://www.waymotorworks.com/ddm-wor...-diverter.html

I was wondering if anyone is running the 17% and this? Did it fix the heating problem?

Im about to buy my pulley kit and would like to do it once. (I dont want to buy the 15% and wish I had the 17%. But I dont want to deal with the heat issues of the 17%.)

Is there a way around this that i dont know of?

The 17% will only create a heat problem at the higher rpm's. With a smaller pulley you are simply going to get to the power sooner rather than later. So unless you are going to be spending time at the higher rpm's, you shouldn't need to worry about temps.

BUT.......the diverter does do wonders to help with heat soak as it allows more of the air going into the scoop to be utilized for cooling the IC. I have the Alta version and strongly recommend them.

I understand that there are only issues at the higher RPM with the 17% pulley.

I guess my question is, does the inter cooler diverter eliminate the heat problem totally or does it just help? (is it worth the $145?)

I am about to order my 17% too, This seems like a good idea.. I had a really big issue on my old GTI with heat soak. I would hate to run into that again.. It may only help a little, but a little is better than none.

Yes. But that is a matter of opinion.

The intercooler diverter will help with intercooler recovery. But I don't think you need to be so concerned with the heat from a 17% over a 15% unless your going to run at high RPMs alot.

If your really concerned with heat, save your money and get our GP intercooler it will do more than just a diverter.

Also thanks for chosing our pulley kit you'll love it.

Read this thread...it discusses maximizing the efficiency of your stock intercooler:

like most people said ... unless you plan on tracking your car (high RPM and constant acceleration) the 17% pulley will not cause a lot more heat than the 15% pulley.

But WMW have great products and i would doubt they would sell and IC diverter if it was useless

Just some FYI for everyone. Not all the products on our site are great or recommended by us. We carry every brand we can to let the customer have a choice, if we only carried what we recommend we couldn't survive, this is my full time job. If you want to know what we recommend look for this seal:

Yes we do like the DDM diverter.

M7 has a 16% pulley, might get you just in between. The tuner I was at this week does not change the IC, but specifically said the CAI needs to be after market. They only use the 17% pulleys right now, ALTA and Craven.

If I'd live in the US, I'd buy the WMW-kit by the way. Great bang for the buck if you ask me!

FWIW, I'm running a 15% pulley and intend on doing the scoop modification noted in the thread/link I posted + extending a lip on the stock diverter that extends forward to prevent air from the scoop from escaping through the gap currently present at the front of the diverter. Those 2 changes will likely negate the need for anything else, but I may add a DDM diverter to the mix if feeling flush...
