Solid engine mount

What do you guys think about this idea? I'm a noob so just asking the question.

We have a machine shop for heavy machinery and can make pretty much anything. I think the guys would be able to make me a solid mount pretty easy. What are your thoughts?

Haha! Well, I'll consult with the guys in the shop. I'm sure they can think of something for me. These aftermarket versions are taking forever to come out.

Full solid mounts are a bad idea for any daily driver or street driven car. You will eventually break something. Polyurethane inserts are the best bet. They give you a much more positive feel while still allowing enough give to not break stuff.

Can't you get PowerFlex bushings in SA?

You have an 03 and don't have the problematic liquid filled dampener. There are Powerflex inserts and replacements available for all three mounts on the car and they do a great job of tightening things up.

I tried Delrin, top and bottom... way too much vibrations. If really interested, and if I can find them, I'd sell them to you.

I think you'll be pleased with just the top and bottom polyurethane inserts and transmission mounts.

Even for racing i would hesitate to put solid mounts.
The solid mounts will create so much vibration that you will no longer feel the tires thru the steering wheel. You would need to get rid of the load detect auto boost of the steering pump so you could still feel the steering.

Just replacing the passenger side mount with solid, would cause the block to flex, or the mount would have to flex and eventually fail.

For solid mounts you would want to extensively reinforce/ tube frame the towers, horns, and subframe or you would stress them.

Poly inserts really are what you need.

Not to thread jack

But the BSH race is damn near a solid lower mount. I hate it with a passion until i bolt it on at the track, then I love it but only for those couple hours. I regret buying form one of the vendors here since they sent me the wrong one and its my fault(there words)

My question is if I drill into the bushing would that decrease the vibration. but keep some of the performance, dumb I know but I have never heard anything about that.

I put a TSW mount on my '03 MCS and get so much vibration that the dash buzzes at pretty much all rpms. Now I need to fix it by either going back to the stock mount or adding a bunch of vibration dampening...I'll probably start with the latter. Anyway, I do not recommend either the TSW or a solid motor mount unless you will be more than casually tracking the vehicle...
