Weight of stock exhaust?

I'm trying to figure out the weight of the stock exhaust on an R56 from the cat back. Anyone ever weighed it? I need the baseline to compare to other exhaust systems I'm looking at.

They are decently heavy. I don't have a # figure for you, but know the stock resonator and piping as well as the cat is pretty heavy. I could say its 1.5x the weight of my aftermarket 2.5" piping + magnaflow muffler and resonator. Aftermarket piping is aluminized steel. Hope that helps a little bit.

That definitely helps. Thanks, Boston. I guess I'm gonna have to weigh it when I get it off the car.

Just wondering if you ever weighed it when you took it off. If so how much did it end up weighing?

Stock exhaust from the v band back to tips is 30 pounds with the short mini tips and the stock down pipe is 7.5 pounds. I hope this helps

The best part of the stock exhaust, is that it does not drone, majority of the aftermarkets are gonna drone, unless you go with an expensive unit, between 2-3k rpm it sounds like **** in the cabin, but if you dont mind the drone
To me there is soo little gain in hp with an exhaust and with my experience with other cars and aftermarket systems I stay stock. IMO

My aftermarket exhaust on my old E46 droned like crazy anyways before i upgraded to the MCS so i won't mind it at all.

There are over a dozen different exhaust options on the market. With which ones did you experience drone?

Creeve I was talking in general that most aftermarket systems drone especially if you go catless, unless you go with an expensive unit like akrapovic, but most will drone around 2-3k rpm
Hey creeve I am sure you know this since your a fifth gear member, but if you do a search on exhaust drone you can find all kinds of systems with forum members talking about the drone the systems produce, I don't want to name the companies but they're on there and if they say their system do not drone well you better research it and find some members that do own the system and ask if it drones or not.
