I believe launch control is set default to about 4k rpm's (you can change it too) and only kicks in with the clutch depressed and at a dead stop. I've only tried it once or twice but worked fine for me in my 2007

Launch control?!? I have not seen that mentioned anywhere before though I probably have missed it. Tell me more...I did not even know the AP had it.

Check your map settings...I think you should have it all set and ready to go.

Here's a picture of my current map to show you what I mean.

There is also a way to change the limit using the cruise control settings I believe but forget specific details.

The launch control is built into all of the maps, and is at 4500 for the Minis, but it can not be adjusted for the Minis. It can be adjusted for other cars, but not on the Mini AccessPORT.

So how do you kick it in? Cause I have hit the gas pedal and it goes past the 4500 rpm spot.

The car has to be at a complete standstill, if it's barely rolling it won't work. So yeah at a complete stop and with the clutch in you should be able to floor it and the engine will hold rpm around 4500.

I tried it out this morning and it worked for me... was more like 4700 then 4500 though.

I also didn't really get a good start. Was testing on the way to work in the canyons this morning. Hard to find level straights... the few that I did find, 1st time I didn't have DTC turned off and 2nd time I didn't have DSC turned off... I think you have to have all that turned off so the computer does cut the power...

Will be awesome to play with though... hope I don't kill my tires

I guess it could be the clutch... I never have issues starting not using the launch control. Also the traction lights were flashing on both atempts when I didn't have it turned off

Yeah weird... It just "worked" for me.

Having an automatic, this feature won't work for me. But keep in mind, boyz, that you are sending a lot of torque thru the driveline quite suddenly. This is the kind of thing you probably do not want to do on any regular basis. Unless, of course, you *enjoy* replacing clutches, driveshafts, and such...It's nice, however, to see Alta is keeping up with the latest developments in launch control.
