Has anyone installed the M7 Vortex 2 hood scoop?

If so how much did it cost to install or did you DIY? Are you happy with it and do you think that its worth the price?

Anyone can install it themselves. You drill a small hole in the underside of the hood to allow the bolt from the front of the hood scoop to go through and you put a nut and washer on it. The other 2 bolts fit in the factory holes from the original hood scoop.

I have the CF version. Its very good quality but not as good as the MINI CF versions. It took M7 3 months to ship it to me. I got it for 15% off using their Christmas coupon.

If you look directly into the scoop or you are 3ft tall then you will see the body color paint of the car that was previously hidden by the old scoops grill.

Some pics:

Does it provide better air flow in the cabin? Is it better than the stock hood scoop (air flow)?

It's for looks. Even with the open scoop not much air is getting in there. Not enough to make a real difference anyway.

You can get magnetic grill badges from most of the MINI vendors like Outmotoring etc. That pirate badge is from http://motoringbadges.com/.

You can get one from any of the MINI vendors like Craven Speed, Moss, Outmotoring. Even from your local MINI dealer.

Long term review.

I have this on my car for almost 2 years now. Keep in mind I have the CF version. It looks nice but you may be better served by buying the non CF version and having it professionally painted.

Th CF is OK. No where near the quality of the OEM MINI parts. If I had it to do over I would not get the CF version.

This is purely for looks. It may be slightly functional but I doubt it.

The m7 ram-2 scoop looks sweet. So subtle and just a little bit bigger than OEM but it's noticeable.

The m7 vortex-2 scoop just looks totally out of place IMO. Looks like someone squishing their nose.

it took M7 6 months to get me mine...so you might want to go ahead and order it now if you really want it. I know i wish i wouldve done that considering i sold my stock one to pay for it. Half a year with a gaping hole in my hood was not fun..

I had to wait a few months as well. One thing to note. When mine arrived the front bolt that you drill the hole for did not protrude past the hood. So I had to make a hole big enough to fit the nut/washer and a socket inside.

Mine took 3 months to arrive but I must say I love it. The stock one just looks boring now.

I got mini from M7 eBay store. It did take a couple of months to be made but it was worth the wait.

I contacted them and they only seem to stock the pieces once enough people have paid for them I guess to make it worth their while. Bogus. I don't want to wait 3 to 6 months.
