The ECU will trigger a high boost fault code in the DME at around 27psi...so I doubt it's actually running 30 psi.

Are you sure it's not reading total pressure? i.e. including atmospheric pressure of 14.7psi? So your real level of boost would be around 15psi?

Yes you are correct. Jan informed me about this. But now this is too low.

I finally bought the tune!! I hope Jan gets to it today and maybe gives me a few trial versions of some things, but that might be wishful thinking.

Brace yourself!! You're in for a big time surprise the first time you let out the clutch. You'll love it.

I've been reading everyone's experiences regarding the RMW tune and I really thought that I might be disappointed because my expectations were so high. Man, I was soooo wrong. After the tuning session my trip home was a blast! I wish I had a better intercooler because I know it could be fun for even longer.

So what Dwight said...brace yourself...especially in 2nd!

I did, but I've paid for both tunes. I bought the Dimsport tool from Jan back in March. As each company releases updates to their tunes I would like to try them out and re-evaluate which tune works the best for me at that time. Jan has indicated he has unlocked the 2nd gear limits. Therefore I'd like to try out an updated tune from him.

I have not gotten an email back from Jan yet, but does anyone have a link to the instruction manual because the one I have only goes to 9/12 pages.

I'm broke now. I bought the RMW tool and tune back in March so I had a little bit of time to pay down the cards.

Hmm, what do u mean by 2nd gear limiter? I have the 1st gear limiter ATM but I wasn't aware there is one in 2nd also. Cannot wait for the update tune with the limiter(s) removed.

Well after driving around for awhile all I can say as Tommy Boy put it, HolyShnikes!!! I can't count the number of times I said oh crap!! as I mashed down the petal. It seems now that the car moves through the gears and gets speed very smoothly and quickly and does not give up. Also, I have never seen the traction control light flash when I was going 40+mph. I think this tune is going to get me in trouble .

I definitely do not have a torque/boost limit in 2nd gear, only in 1st. It'd be nice to have it removed in 1st just for the option to have a little fun off the line, but for now I'm having so much fun in 2nd and 3rd (and 4th and 5th and 6th) that I don't even mind.

LMAO! See, I warned you. Tons of fun ain't it? If you haven't discovered it already, the new power will stay right there with that Helix FMIC that we've got. Got a good laugh with mine today. Had a short run with some club members and one of the guys that tried to keep up with me later asked how I'd stuffed a small block V8 under the hood. I'm love'n it!!

Best way to sum it up is more power. Which seems like its never going to end and that power is applied in very smooth manner.

r56 Jan tune 1st gear question

Forgive my lack of knowledge I thought this was normal until i saw this post. My car seems to be acting the same since i got the new tune file from Jan awhile ago. This did fix the hesitation around 3-3500k though. Thank you!

Does this have anything to do with the limiter in first gear?

All I know is taking off in first is very slow and sound like my car has a sore throat lol once into 2nd the the power is on. I have also noticed a slight hesistation around 2500ish at half to full throttle at times. But nothing like before. If my memory serves me, the last tune did not have this issue in first gear?

Any ideas?

thanks - Jas

Send Jan an email, he found the limiters this past week. He sent me an updated file on Friday and my 1st gear is definitely MUCH stronger now. I can't say how much so yet as its wet/raining outside so i cant get traction through 3rd (even with new tires) lol so, we will have to wait till its dry. But from what I can tell, it doesn't have the sit there moving slowly with a loud exhaust note sound while all the boost is being dumped, so... this should be good news
