Alta CAI R53 only $118!!

The Alta CAI for R53 are only $118 right now. Its $139 and w/ 15% off comes to $118. Type in code "1RESOLUTION5" for the discount. Its the blue hose instead of red/black. If you want it enclosed its only $20 more for the lid. I think I'll wait to see how it sounds before ordering the lid.

Most other CAI are $199-250, enclosed, but w/out the silicone inlet hose.

Even with the lid the sound is awesome and felt it was more or less, to provided a cleaner look to the system.

That's a great deal

Yep, the lid is for the looks only as the box seals up against the hood when closed.

Is it really a tight seal though? Isn't it pressed against the firewall which is pretty porous?

what kinda lids you californians talkin' bout lol ?
seriously i thought it was pretty well proved that the factory box or a similar material box was superior at heat reflection ? due to it's materials insulating qualities as opposed to a metal box . just slap a filter on the throttle body and be on with it .

Not sure what you mean........Alta has you remove the cowl panel during installation. So not only are you getting air from the stock grill location/tube but also from the cowl area.

The box itself has a rubber gasket that installs on the new box and seals against the hood/bonnet.

Hmm, when I look at the Alta site, I see the airbox only (no silicone inlet pipe) for $139. Am I missing something?

thanks.

Duh, I was not looking at the clearance page - my bad. And thanks for the pointer. I was thinking DDMworks, but I think this deal is too good to pass up!

Should come in the mail today! Cant wait till it stops snowing so I can install it. I also want to do a before / after videos so from inside the cabin / outside on a few onramps so I can compare the sound.

Quick question about the filter, are the foam filters as good at filtering as a K&N style? I want performance, but dont want to feed my engine dirty oily air.

The foam filters are excellent for filtering dirt. Offroad motorcycles and race trucks have been using them for years. Just make sure you do NOT used K&N cleaner on the foam filter. Only use foam filter cleaner. Suuuuper good read about our foam filters can be found HERE

I thought it was a lifetime filter. Why would you need a replacement?
