magnussen-moss warranty act. SO's an attorney, I don't expect any issues. But what makes you want to rain on people's parade?

Because that is just how a lot of people over here are....

On a positive note, I got an RMW tune a couple of months ago and have been loving it. Congrats on making a good decision, enjoy your tune!

Just ignore him and ENJOY your tune!

For me it was worth it, if you take a look at the lowest dip in my new torque curve, it still doesnt dip down to even the max of my old torque curve. Its a considerable difference! Also as an aside, this is an automatic

Magnussen-Moss Act, good luck on that one. By the time you get your day in "Federal Court," you'll be out $15-20K on the cheap side. Even if he is a lawyer BMW/MINI will beat him down and make his action a full time job. This Act is only useful in Federal Court since it is a Federal Law and no state in this country recognizies it.

I have no interest in raining on anyones parade, I'm dying to get programming done but until its a simple flash (whether dyno tuned or canned) and I can flash back my original stock program I'm not touching this with a 100 foot pole because BMW/MINI are out for blood. One mis-step and owners will be out their warranty. Sorry but other owners need to have the "Devils Advocate" to make them think clearly about this. I mean do you have a monetary interest in the programming cause it sounds like you do since you don't want to hear my desenting opinion.

If that's bitter its time to shear the wool from your coat.

Hey Rumm, I agree with you about the reflash. The warranty issue makes me a bit nervous. The only difference is I don't keep expressing it in every thread about RMW's Tune. We all know how you feel. At this point I think your beating a dead horse.

Don't have e-mails of the dyno's. I think the Highest R53 was a Pulley and exhaust car that hit 197whp. Highest R56 I saw was an 09 JCW that hit 228whp. Had a couple R53's with heads we expected to see big numbers but they all had low compression and turned quite low numbers. Did have a GT28RS on the dyno but they were working out bugs.
Some of the info....

Eh, I'm about out of warranty already and probably will be by the time I could have a tune done. So that is not a disincentive for me.

Rumm has an 07...it's got to be almost out of warranty anyway, unless he doesn't drive it. Really don't understand why he complains so much.

I just don't think it would be a good idea to be switching between MAPs if you are modified.

I was actually wondering that myself. What would switching between the stock ECU setting and a remote tune say every 6 months or so due? If anything.

Why?

Nothing. Unless you have some sort of mod that NEEDS a tune to run safely, like meth or a bigger turbo...switching back to stock won't do anything.

I've had nearly 30+ maps on my car.

Interesting thread within a thread.

I have to go look at numbers.

A point, Mr. Rumm, you have a lightened pulley, (in your sig). If so, you have made a mod that most engineers who want to void your warranty will flag, if you have an engine failure.

It will not matter if you have a tune or not, the simple mods, CAI, exhaust, lowering etc, usually scrape by the corp. engineers, if they are looking, your pulley on the crank is a red flag.

Just an FYI.

Don

Well in the case of having any kind of major mods cause by the time this is available(tune on the go) there will be more mods for the car and if you MAP for it for a certain part pattern and go back to stock your car will run like crap.

Haha I was going to point that out to him too Don...

I could see that ending up worse than them seeing a tune.

Don't forget what ever mod you put on your car has to be directly linked to the failure so, if you put an exhaust on your car and the mirror falls off the is not a direct cause. But if you put on an intake and your car runs lean and you burn out your valve train the yes that was a direct cause.

Warranty issues will not keep me from getting the RMW tune. All research that I have done shows that Jan's tunes are reliable and Jan does not over-tune the MINI unlike some other available products. It's a custom DYNO tune; things don't get much better than that. See you in the spring Jan.
