Drivetrain Oil filled engine mount failures - and possible remedy
Oil filled engine mount failures - and possible remedy
At 183,000 miles I replaced my 6th oil filled engine mount - I'm still on my stock clutch so I'm not beating the car.
I contacted Innovative Engine mounts today. They produce some very nice mounts for the Japanese market. They are willing to have a look at this mount in particular...I offered to send them a used unit. Although they prefer to have a car to work with thay can bench design a mount.
Is there any interest? The company is located in California...so my car is not going to help. anyone interested in being part of this development?
The changes to my sons' cars was nothing short of amazing! his latest civic is making 333WHP and the mounts work very well!

The TSW one has been available for a few months now. I recently got the chance to install one on a friends car and the install was very straight forward and quite easy. The only 'quirk' really is the bottom bolt, but a rather easy obstacle to overcome. It added zero NVH, and the lifespan is 10x that of a stock one.
The TSW guys are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly to deal with.

TSW site when something is out of stock the site drops it from the page till it's back in stock. They should be back in stock by Friday.

Yes, the more options the better, but I'd pass on another hydraulic mount. The original MINI mount was a solid polyurethane mount, but it was prone to cracking and apparently there were some NVH issues as well, hence MINI switched to the the hydraulic mount (not sure which year). IMHO, a better quality solid mount, like what MINI originally intended, is a better option from a durability standpoint. Just my 2 cents....
It's not that hard--you need a decent jack (for the engine), that's pretty much it. It does take a little bit of time though; there are a fair number of bolts that need to come off, but it's not a difficult DIY. But do make sure you have all the proper tools first--the reverse Torx socket is one most people don't have in their toolbox, but you can get them at most hardware stores or online.

I'm on my 2nd mount at 32k. Warranty expires in 4 months.
At $300-$400 a pop, that's $1800-$2400 on mounts alone if you had to pay out of pocket.

I'd be interested in seeing what they can offer. Look like they cut poly mounts for Honduhs and offer some billet brackets as well.
Just to let you know we have the TSW mounts in stock and ready to ship.
Also $300-400 for replacing a stock one is crazy expensive. We sell the OEM ones installed for about $160.
