Installed an Alta pulley two weeks ago on my MCS with 1200 miles. I have noticed that the car now releases puffs of blue smoke when I stand on it.

Anybody notice this in the past? Been told that the rule of thumb is, puff or blue at the point when you accelerate means valve stem seals, constant blue smoke is rings.....

Thanks

MV

Your the first one that I have ever read to have this kind of problem. I have had mine for 8-10 months now with no problems.

Are you sure the car wasn't doing that before installing the pulley? We all have a habit of not paying attention when it doesn't seem relevent.

Just make sure you pull off the pulley before you take it to the dealer!

Thanks for the insight,

We spent a bit more time with the car today and we had the following observations.

Oil level seems OK. The car has 1800 total miles and we didn't look at the oil level since we brought it home.

The smoke problem doesn't seem to be oil (blue), it seems to be fuel and you can really see (and smell) it when it is dead cold in the morning. I live in Seattle and it has ben in the 30's this past week. When the car warms up, the smoke goes away and the fuel smell subsides....

Could the ECU not adapted correctly to the increased boost?

I am sure the car has some sort of cold start valve or compensation, anybody had this thing freak out before......

Many thanks,

M

I know, I know, I'm an ***, but whenever I read this subject, I just start cracking up. Not because someone's car is getting potentially ruined, but for some reason the phrase "...car started smoking" just kills me!

BTW, sorry for laughing at your troubles, that totally sucks.

I bet the M7 PB would fix it (refering to its multiple sparks at and just past top dead center, thus burning off all excess fuel---plus adding power).

Wow.

I want to hear more on this one. I had my supercharger crap put at 18K miles. The car sounded like a diesel so I took it to the dealership. They almost didn't cover it under wty due to aftermarket guages! With the pulley you may be screwed. This is the only reason I have not done the pulley mod on my MCS.

Best of luck to you.

Kesh
