ok I read through this whole freaking thread and am ready to shell out the cash (wife is going to kill me..got the unichip for $150), rip off the hardwired unichip and get a real tune!

Hopefully, that won't be the case. Being married with three kids and on a budget since the wife got laid off, doesn't give me a lot of room for negotiating about things to buy for the MINI.

how about doing a group buy first, Jan ? This way you can show the supplier you are serious with placing an order for 10-15 units right away. From the dynamics of this thread seems like you'll get the group buy list filled up in no time, I'd sign up too if I had more details and the price was reasonable.
