Thank you! When we do something we go 100% or not at all

This SIM is giving me grey hair! We go it working. However we have to recalculate OEM numbers again then recheck the math. Then hook it up again after we trigger a CEL on catless. If it clears and the readings stay were we need them its good to go!

So with your o2 sim, we could run a cat-less downpipe? How much are you anticipating the sim to cost?

Riss,

How does one go about installing this O2 hack? Can you shed some light on this handy item? Will I have to resurrect my solder gun from the depths of my tool cabinet?

Thanks!

I spoke to Riss and they said you send them a o2 sensor and they modify it. The only downside is the o2 sensor is $215. When I spoke to Riss they wherent sure how much they where going to price their work but around $100 they said. Or you can use your existing o2 but you still have to send it to them.

...uh... not very cool

What exactly are they doing to the sensor? Aren't they just adding some simple electronic components to the wiring? I would think any person handy with soldering could do something like that.

Why dont we let them fill in the blanks. I dont want to give wrong info, I was just trying to be helpful and give what info I have. I think its more than just solder a wire, I believe they are adding some electronic components to it also. Who knows what voodoo they do?

I herd they sacrifice a chicken over every o2 sensor and the gods help remove the cel, but there is a slight chance I am wrong.

Yes you are right. We are all very excited to hear how these new RR parts are going to perform. Can't wait for the dyno results!

I was one of the first to purchase the Alta turbo-back, unfortunately, their cat is a cheap POS & they refuse to fix or re-engineer it, so like many people it was removed (at least for those of us who purchased before they put up their disclaimer). As it stands, there isn't a lot of long term data w/ the aftermarket downpipes to see if the brace is needed, but the factory felt it important enough to use two brackets to the block, Alta's being only on one side might have caused it to twist & crack, or it might have just been a shoddy weld. Regardless, I think it's great to see you including a bracket for our piece of mind and equally encouraging to see a high end shop that doesn't let ego get in the way of product development I think you'll find most Mini owners aren't 'cheap', but rather 'savvy' shoppers and more than a few of us have already been burned by Alta.

Does you catted downpipe through any CELs like Altas? Also do you think I would have to take off the catted version to pass smog in CA. If I just replaced the downpipe on my stock R55, would there still be a performance gain, until I can find a exhaust system I like?

you should see a performance gain w/ a highflow cat/downpipe and the stock exhaust will probably gain some volume as well.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to clear some things up with the SIM. You will have 3 options.

1) You can purchase the SIM from us and install it to your 02 Sensor yourself. This is not hard to do, and will be the cheapest option.

2) You can send your sensor to us and for a small fee on top of the SIM we will install it for you.

3) You can buy the SIM with a brand new 02 Sensor we purchase from BMW MINI directly. The sensor to purchase from the dealer is $215. (This is going to be pricey doing it this way. However 1 you get a brand new sensor with the SIM built in you can simply take off and on with your downpipes + have your OEM one handy. If a sensor goes out later etc...2 its simple and ready to go out of the box)

4) We are also working on package deals with our downpipes + the SIM to save you guys some money.

With all that said....Personally I would go with option 1 since it's 10 minutes putting the thing on, and will come with a full picture DIY. If you guys need a video DIY we can make that too. If you need phone support we can provide that too. We have not yet set the price of our SIM since we are still not done with testing. The good news is we do have it working! We just need to fine tune it a little more.

When your first with a product it is hard to get it 100% the first time. We had the same issues with the N54 downpipes. However, it's your responsibility to the community/your customers to take their feedback, and make it right. That is why we re designed the downpipes 3 times on the BMWs. (This does cost a lot of money/time after you have already built your JIGs and done production runs. You have to go back and do it all over again) This is the reason most companies don't like making changes. But if your not willing to do this your products won't stay on top, and people will lose faith in your product line.

Now we are at an advantage in this situation because we can avoid any mistakes that were already made. By adding the brace we did not think it was needed. However you guys felt it was, and I'm glad we did it after seeing the downpipe on for a while. I believe we made the right choice. KUDOS to you guys! There is no room for EGO. We all have the same goal. We know how to make the products, and you guys know these cars. Working together we will make the best products, and everybody wins

Our catted downpipe so far has not thrown a CEL. For me to tell you 100% that it will not would be a lie. Since we have not had the opportunity to test it on several cars etc. I can tell you we will have a CEL fix (being worked on) just in case it does. On our N54 catted downpipes we have had maybe 1 out of 100 downpipes that go out get a CEL. It's a trade off of preformance, and not throwing a CEL at all. We use High Flow metallic substraight cats. These are expensive, and have a low CEL count for maximum preformance.

As for if you will pass smog in CA. Once again the only way for me to answer this honestly would be for me to take the car down an smog check it. I can tell you that our catted downpipes on the N54 did pass smog with OEM exhaust still on. Thank you!

+1

You will not see as big if a gain as catless. However you will get a decent gain.

On a side note. All of this testing on the SIM with the DP being catless. The car rips! I am able to see OEM & drive it to get our readings. Then put the catless on right after to get the other readings. It feels amazing!

Simple as splice a wire. And solder it in! Everything is set up for easy install. Comes with the unit in a box the wires pre cut. The ground has insulation etc...I will show you guys the DIY before its ready too go. We have to be a little careful so somebody doesn't take our hard work and apply it.

The Riss Racing catless downpipe is kind of expensive, no? Exhaust Depot and the Ragazzon are both cheaper. The Riss Racing looks much nice though!

So this o2 sim is going to be available tomorrow?

Sorry if its a little expensive for you. We will be running a group buy on the products for this forum so you can get them at an attractive price. We are waiting to finish our SIM so we can package them together. Since at the end of the day the downpipe is useless without it. When you have a CEL on your car if its anything similar too the N54 downpipes you are losing power. Thank you!

The SIM will be available as soon as we finish the testing. I don't want to rush it out, and something go wrong. We want to make sure its FLAWLESS before we post it for sale.
