FINALLY! We got the CEL to clear with the 02 SIM!!!!!! We can still improve it to make it a little better but we are really close now to having the exact numbers dialed in. We took the SIM off made 3 more versions of it we are now at a total of 12 different SIMS! Just wanted to give you guys the update. Also the catback exhaust is about done. We should have the sound clips up mid next week! Thanks!

This is correct! One SIM fits all. I was just letting you guys know we made 12 different SIMs, and we are using the one that works best too keep the OEM levels.

will the sims be universal? or just usable on your system

also, you guys should look and see if the car has a clutch delay valve. i saw you had a modified one for the 135i on your website. it feels like there is one but nobody has confirmed it yet

They have my late '08 MCS. It is highly sensitive a threw constant CELs with the Alta DP, and with two spacers, with a single spacer it occasionally threw a CEL, most often on a long level cruise or running up a long 5% grade at 70-75 MPH in 6th. The cruise CEL was a lean condition, the hill CEL was poor catalytic performance. I've just returned from vacation and they've had my car for two weeks. I anticipate speaking with them Monday for a detailed update.

We are all anticipating it. I've got the downpipe on order and can't wait to see what they've done for the cat-back!

Hi DNader,

We are pretty sure the sim will work on all systems. We can actual check the system as we do have test cars with the Alta setup. Will keep everybody updated!

Thanks Shane!

We will be able to release pictures this week. It looks like we're going with the oval setup with larger tips. Possibly 3.25-3.5" dual. What do you guys think of Oval tips? All feedback is appreciated!

I'm personally not a fan of the oval tip. What's up with the small tip diameter? Would it be possible to fit a 4" round tip on the end of your muffler setup. Even though I'm ditching the Alta for your whole turbo back setup, I really like how large the tips are on it. It makes the car have a lot more attitude in my opinion.

Either way, I'm sure you'll work with every customer's unique requests as long as they pay LOL!

Those look like double walled angle cuts on the Challenge. Now that is what I would define as a bad-*** Mini. To me, the oval has a more luxurious presence about it.

Sorry to change the exhaust theme but have you think of anything to install the catch can and a better intake manifold, also the boost coming out of the fmic (the cold side) could do something.

Kevin was nice enough to lend us his car for another 2 weeks so we can continue building products for you guys. Kevin told us about the cold side already so we are looking into some solutions there. Catch can is already on the list of things to do, and an exhaust manifold. In regards to the intake manifold. We are working on one right now for the N54. This is a product that needs major tuning. We do not think the tunes right now are ready for that mod. We are working with LET they were nice enough to send over there flash unit. So we are going to do some logging/tuning this coming week when we hit the dyno with our exhaust/downpipes. After we have all those numbers we will be able to design an intake manifold. Thank you!

Personally I'm not a fan of double wall. Single wall makes me think "high end race system." Double wall is more of a show look to me. I like the performance look of single wall. Thats just my opinion. What do you guys think? We can do anything tips are not a problem.

RISS and my car

I spoke with Anthony at length today both on the telephone and in person at the shop. Suffice it to say that many parts are in development and undergoing testing, I simply couldn't deprive them of the car at this point and subsequently delay development and release of the products to everyone so I left it for another two weeks.
The exhaust will be component-based - pick and order your options and design and assemble your own exhaust from turbo to tip. Order new pieces to expand, upgrade or alter your exhaust as you desire because they are bolt-together pieces that easily disassemble and reassemble. Yes, you could by a DP (cat or no cat) and mate it to the factory exhaust, or buy an exhaust and mate it to the factory DP, adding the other pieces later.
Anthony intends to dyno-prove all the components and configurations on my car - with video/sound samples made of each so you can pick and choose the power and sound combinations you'd like. Absent schedule conflicts I'll be at the dyno test and give everyone an update.

Yep - real world testing on a real street-driven car. After the parts are tested and documented technically I'll share the street butt-dyno results too. My son and I will not have driven the MINI for over a month - yeah the other cars we have are fun to drive too - but we do miss the MINI.

Exhaust tips? Anthony and I discussed possible interchangeable tip options - in other words, order the exhaust with the tips you like today, and later buy others and change them should you desire. Let Anthony know if this is of value to you, potentially the cost of the system is slightly more with this option. My preference is single-wall slant cut brushed stainless. To each his own I say.

Having purchased a couple cat-backs so far, I can tell you 3.5" is about the bare minimum in size for filling the opening and even then if they're too close together they can look small. I really think the Borla dual 4" tips are the perfect size/shape, but the wider spaced Alta 3.5" tips look fine.
I think a nice Oval 8"x3" single tip similar to the Porsche Boxster would look really sharp. Alta tried doing the single tip, but it was too shallow so it looked kind of goofy. A deeper doublewall tip would be trick.

I'm interested to see what you come up with for the intake, I'd like to see a real cold air intake that incorporates a good "dry" air filter. By dry I mean something that's not going to foul the hotwire MAF. It'd be ideal to have a higher flow airbox that took an easily replaceable larger filter, like a filter from a 135i or ...

Im not a fan of the single tip. I really would like something like the challenge car as it looks really clean and mean. I also think polished or black options would be awesome.

+1

We are looking into both tip options as well. Titanium style tips may also be used if we choose to go single walled slant cut.

Great news,

The o2 sim has been on the car for a little while now. We are currently getting stock readings from the o2 sensor so things are looking very positive. We're going to clear the codes and run the car with the sensor and catless downpipes to see if the CEL comes back on. We are just fine tuning the signal now but things are looking very good!

The exhaust is fully completed. We should be posting pictures/video/sound clips later today. The exhaust looks wonderful and we're very happy with the design of the full system. We will be posting more information on the system later today!
