Drivetrain New bolt-on catback I was working on. Nice options! :)
if you look at the mounting rods that are welded to the mufflers. they are bent where they are welded. if you were to mimic that type of bend on the opposite ends it would automatically center the exhaust system. The way you currently have it set up will allow the exhaust to slide side to side while turning.

Ah ok i see what you saying. On the rod ends im using clamps. This gives you some adjustments to center the exhaust then the clamp will prevent the system from moving left and right as you said. If i bend the ends then you cant center it. Allows for less tolerance when you assemble it.
im down south of you guys in lake placid . i might have to make a trip up there this summer to see you guys. i like the idea of the system being on the quiet side . i just want the performance, my last mini was making me deaf. i got me a 09 jcw it would be nice to add just a lil more bark.
the dp might be what i really need.

exhaust sounds great! I have yet to find a better sounding exhaust then the magnaflow for the r56.
Question... whats the difference between those can style mufflers vs the typical "ovalular" mufflers?

Ok gotcha
I'm sorry, I really have to disagree with you here.
I'm a previous R53 owner and now R56 owner...the aftermarket is not embracing the R56 at all. We are now on our 3rd model year of the car and there is hardly anything worth buying for it. Sure you can buy exhausts, intakes, silicone tubes (big frickin deal) and other basic bolt on parts...we still don't even have ECU tuning. Yes, in theory the turbo R56 should be a tuners dream compared to the R53...but its simply not.
I had friends that had some of the very first 02 R53s and they had pulley's on their cars within a few months of getting their car. In 03 and 04 people were doing everything including headers, heads, cams, etc. And now, as I'm sure you know from the R53 forum, they sky is the limit when it comes to what you want to do with your R53. I miss mine very much, and would have never bought an R56 if my R53 hadn't have been totaled.
Although I do like my R56, the R53 was more fun in so many ways. My recommendation...keep your 53!!!

I like working with locals. Its good to have a friendly 101 conversation and its great to edumicate the customers on basic turbo 101 things etc.
Shoot on by , i can make various options to your liking and we can try them all out .

the dp might be what i really need.Ill start working on it thsi coming week. Im just trying to see what tip i can get a hold of that wont be discontinued anytime soon!
What about the GIAC ECU? Also i am not a fan of custom exhausts. kits will fit better for the most part and have some kind of testing behind it at least. What about Alta's big turbo kit? Vishnu Tuning was doing something as well for the R56s and their ECUs are pretty reliable from what my buddies with Bimmers say. R56 has more QUALITY kits available much quicker than the R53 had in its early days.
Alta's big turbo kit never got finished. Again, lack of ECU tuning is largely to blame.
Vishnu was around for a little bit in the begining saying they were going to work on something for the R56, never did though...they backed out as far as I know. BMS (Burger tuning), also very popular and successful in the 335i/135i world...was trying to tackle the R56 ecu....they gave up.
Which QUALITY kits for the R56 are you referring to then? lol...there are none.
So, any updates ? I'd love to see a set of tips like the Borla catback (or even better, the factory JCW tips) and a stainless option. I'm about ready to ditch my Alta catback and it's down to this or the Stratmosphere system.
