Drivetrain 315WHP no M45 or NOS...
LOL I think I am about 20 years older then you.
I will wait until you have one of your tune visits around Sacramento.
I just wanted to see what kind of business RMW was. I was surprised to find it would appear a home one. Nothing wrong with that but it does answer a few questions !

I am on my phone most of the day
don't plan on me getting to SAC anytime soon

. I'm not sure what the point of all this is. At this point in time Jan is the ONLY tuner/parts manufacturer that is producing these kind of power levels. Naturally being "The *****" has all of the other vendors at full mast. Do you have any idea what some of the other head manufacturers would do to get their hands on the specs from one of his heads or cam's?
This has happened before...
Who's going to spend $500 on a Schrick Cam? The Ultrik cam is EXACTLY the same. Why does Jan want to give out the specs for his cam so another vendor can copy them and make their own?
If the HUNDREDS of independent people who have posted on this forum about Jan's honesty, integrity, and forthcomingness aren't convincing enough, perhaps the slew of dyno sheets that have been posted over the last year will help out.
Jan's one of the most stand up guys I know, he doesn't jerk you around, and he tells it like it is.
He drove me over 2 hours back to my car today because I didn't have a ride, then turned around and spent another 2 hours in traffic heading in the completely opposite direction back to his house (Taking time out of his personal life to do me a favor). Does your tuner do that for you? Didn't think so.
Please just stop with all this BS, if you're interested in something, give Jan a call, leaving a message would probably be a good idea if he's on the phone (I was with him for about 6 hours today, he was on his phone for at least 3 of those hours). He's more than happy to answer any questions you have within reason if you take the time to just talk to him.

JR what are the point of yer posts.... I'll tell you what... I have a head that makes one MILLEEEEON HP! the valves are double X on the from side and quadruple X on the rear.... I also have a CAM that is 457/859 which adds another 40 thousand HP.....
the cost... is 5 thousand.... would you like my Paypal addy?
What does any of this have to do with the thread (315whp?
If we're going to be off topic, allow my verbal spewage to add to the discussion before Jan drops some more numbers on our heads.
Re: the issue of divulging secrets...
There is a lot of speculation about the opinions of vendors re: Jan's products. Has anyone here actually conducted an interview/spoken to a vendor? I haven't spoken to all the vendors so I can't speak for them. But, assuming the vendor's are hard up to compete with Jan, why aren't they just buying his stuff? Wouldn't that be simpler, faster, and perhaps more fruitful in trying to reverse engineering his products than trolling the forums waiting for him to give millimeter measurements of tubes on forums? Can't we just stick to what we *know* and steer clear of all the conjecture?
Re: the issue of a Schrick/Ultrik cam similarity...
Economics often go against the grain of common sense. People want the best price, but what is the sacrifice? Bottom dollar is great but not always the best. Personally, I want to support the guys who innovate/create. Integrity seems to be big on these forums, who here would openly support a company who would deliberately copy Jan's or anyone else's products?
And, why does everyone feel obliged to bear the burden of defending Jan? His products/tunes obviously don't need it...
Personally, I'm ready for more details until I get my test drive...

Well said.... USADAVIDVERLIN..... unfortunately... it's not that simple... Jan is fully aware that at anytime another vendor could buy his stuff and reverse engineer it.... and he doesn't care about that. He does however reserve the right to say, (and this is my own interpretation not to be associatied with RMW, JAN, etc etc blah blah human blah cuase htey all suck) " I am the only one proving my stuff in everyway shape and form. not just hype. So if you want it, buy it. Other wise, STFU!"
So what then, at what point do you say, hey, I have given you EVERYTHING accept MY ACTUAL DATA that it takes to do it.... what more do you want?!.... honestly

That is why you have 238 whp and I have only 217 whp.

I'm saving for RMW head/camshaft at the moment.

How about this.. Better Business Bureau has never heard of RMW / MiniRevolution Mini Works ??
All they really do is track complaints and hand out BBB stickers.
NAM is also really good at tracking complaints and I haven't seen one yet about RMW.
Now if you are really looking for a company that is open, honest, willing to share info, and not at all deceptive, I suggest here.
He dresses like that all the time. When we go out to dinner with the wives I always feel under dressed
. He knows how to dress up but have you seen him do casual??It's a train wreck
. My wife is going to take him shopping.LB
lol... I don't want to look like a 13yr old boy
birds? stones? popcorn (Thriller reference...props Tuls!)... yup, that's pretty on topic for NAM...lol
On this off-topic topic... no one needs to convince you that Jan is a great guy and a great vendor. He is, but it's not worth anyone's time if you're not going to listen. You're flat wrong that his parts make no power; they make the most power. His tune is the best, too. If you want the best, it is YOU who must obtain them; if you are ok spending your cash on second best, that's what you will get. Jan doesn't need to sell his parts because they speak for themselves. I (and many other MINI owners) appreciate that. Oh, and, he's got some fine friends with good rep about him (Tuls, Dr. F), so if you must trust anyone, you best trust him.

While I see the loyalty I am amazed at how many can be lead to follow blindly. I believe this is know as "crowd psychology"
Without going into a lengthy defense I called many pro shops and venders and inquired about RMW parts and tune. It seems that the conclusion was as follows. RMW has a nice head but NOT a super head as claimed. No one really wants anything to do with the RMW cam because it was said the profile does require a CUSTOM one on one tune? Perhaps RMW has it down but from what I read it is a matter of how much time and money you want to spend for the highest WHP you can achieve. Also his numbers are not so fantastic if you get out of this narrow community and explore other shops that are building track Minis. They have the opinion that this market of RMW followers is small and they do not need to impress it. To drop one vender/builder George at Mini Madness has some rather impressive Dyno sheets that would rival RMW from what I see. And there are others as well. You just have to call them and ask for references. As for the secret specification you would think he would post them so if someone did copy every one would know it.
We can debate this all day long and I will never get the answer HERE that I asked for. The main point is as a business (questionable) RMW has some very different ideas. Not in anyway common with the performance world as everyone does it.
As for the BBB you need to call them and ask what they do. I can tell the person who responded has no clue what the BBB really does or has NEVER owned a business. It was just one source I used to find out information and the quality of service. Even today I can not seem to find anywhere that RMW is a registered or licensed business. but then you do not have to be either if you are operating out of your home. One example although a legitimate business is Detroit Tuned. The owner has his shop right at his house in his garage. And you can find DT listed in the BBB and a few other places, like the phone information !
