2 absolutely unrelated questions, 1 thread

1-first off, lets pretend that its nearly impossible for RMW to tune my car due to lack of interested people in my area and also my location. Aside from a custom tune ( which i know is the best by miles ) would a uni-chip be worth the money? or is there another option? can i buy a "pre-tuned" ecu for my mods from RMW ( which i still understand is not quite a custom tune )

2- I absolutely love my 16" x-lite factory rims. I do not want to get rid of them. I have a set of R90 17" but their kinda heavy and just not like my x-lites. I want to upgrade my brakes and i know willwood BBK will fit, but I WANT JCW. on the website that sells them they do not list 16" x-lite cross spokes but ive heard from a "birdy" that the JCW brakes will fit but they are close. does anyone have the JCW brakes on 16" x-lites? or anyone FOR SURE if they will fit? if anyone does have them please, please, please post a pic. thanks a butt-ton everyone who responds really.

Just a question....why spend mad money on JCW? Is it because the rest of your car is JCW? There are better options out there....just my .02 cents.

why JCW....

I absolutely love the look of the JCW and i can get them ALOT cheaper than list. I do understand there are alot of other "better" options like willwood, stoptech, detroit tuned, tsw, the list goes on. honestly, it was love at first site. to answer your question nothing else on my car is JCW. mostly Alta, M7 and Detroit tuned.

GIAC is a good tune for everything up to changing the Head...After that you'll need a custom tune to get full benefit. Look up Helix, You overnight the computer to them, they'll flash it and overnight it back.

I don't know if I'd chance the JCWs with the stock 16s unless you get spacers. I think you'll be fine with a set of 5mm spacers, but unfirtunately I'm not certain, as I don't know the actual measurments.

Dinan is a BIG joke in the BMW community...Some people like their stuff here....I for one dont...I would stay away unless you like a certain product...

16' x-spokes over Jcw brakes

It's dark out now but I'll try tomorrow and get back to you. I have a set of x-spokes that I could throw on the fronts of my Jcw. I don't have a digital camera, alas I'm still all analog.

You could ask Jan if he'd consider doing a "Reflash" tune or something by mail, that could work (He can rough it based on what you have on your car). I wouldn't get a Uni-chip, too many issues. You're better off with Giac.

If the x-lites are close, you could always run a spacer (5mm or so) and that would add some clearance. I have no personal experience with the actual brakes, with the R56 using the same brakes you'll see more and more pad compounds out there for them. A few people on our little race team use the JCW brakes (On the GP) and love them .

For Jan to do a remote flash....

he'd have to send you his interface unit. You'd download your binary and e-mail it off. He'd work it and send it back to you, then you'd load it up and then send his interface back. While this is doable, it means he's not using his interface to tune others cars. If you're really interested, give him a call and ask! That's always the best way to find out what RMW will or won't do.

Waste of money... for 1/3 the cost you could get the same thing from GIAC.

Yup. You could also probably send him your ECU, we have cars he could tune the ECU on out here. It's up to you/him. GIAC you'd probably have to send out your ECU too, MTH you could do yourself, but it's pretty expensive now (almost $700) and you have to buy a cable on top of that (Another $100).

Not if they're made correctly and you use a stud kit with proper length studs .

R-84's fit

Jhud,
R-84's fit perfectly well without spacers. The Jcw callipers have over 5mm of clearance all around. Who ever said that they don't fit is full of it. I just got through fitting the cross spoke wheels on the front end of my Jcw.
