DSC, ABS and tire pressure lights on???

I have an 06 with 16k on it and changed my rims over to steelies for winter upon doing this the above lights cam on, I resetted the tire moniter and haven't had a problem until this weekend. The pavement was dry so I had a little "fun", and all the lights cam on again and will not go out, any thoughts??? Maybe a hard reset? I'd take it to the dealer but they've been giving me a hard time due to mods. If anyone has any thoughts please chime in.

I had pretty much the same issue with the lights, turned out it was a bad wheel speed sensor. there is one in the front and one in the rear on opposite side of the brake wear sensors. Could be your culprit. Only other thing i can think of is a bad wheel angle sensor, but i didn't need to replace that and such never looked into the location of it.

I also had a similar problem. But it was my DCS and emergency brake lights coming on. Quite random. Would come on and off. Changing the wheel sensors fixed the problem. Was under warranty, coming from a dealer that has also given me a hard time for mods.

If the lights come on for a while and then turn off, it's a wheel speed sensor. Cost me about $200 to replace at the dealer, took about half an hour.

If the lights stay on, it's the control module (or something like that) and will be much more expensive.

I kinda think it might be my driver side front wheel angle sensor, is there anyway to test to be sure?

As far as I know you need to take it to an expert. I'm not sure if they can see a fault through the OBD or if they test individual sensors.

Daignostics will let you know

the reason all the lights come on in the 1st gen is that ABS/DSC and Tire pressure are all done through the wheel speed sensors. Screw one of them and all the systems are hosed. If it's intermittant, it's probabably correded connectors. You can check them yourself. Just go follow the wire and you'll find a blue cylindrical connector. Open it up and check the pins.

Really, it's an easy swap if you can figure out which one is bad.... Also, a totally screwed on will keep the lights on, not just a failed module.

Is it within the relm of possibility that not having any sensor will throw up these lights? I mentioned earlier that I have winter wheels on right now, no sensors, but I haven't had a problem untill the pavement wasn't ice covered.

Wheel speed sensors

for the first gen are on the hub. They are the gizmos that have a wire coming up by the brake line, but aren't brake lines. It's the 07+ that have the tire pressure monitoring system in the valve stem mounted to the wheels.

So no, it's not that you;re running other wheels.

Search at RealOEM.com

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...79&hg=31&fg=10

Look at part number 2 (no circle around it). They call it the "ABS Pulse somethingorother"....

Matt

ps, if you don't know about realoem, a great place to see how things are all hooked up...

assuming that all the pins look good, is there anyway to test each sensor say with a multimeter? Or would a scan tool be able to show me which sensor is toast?
