Radiator Reserve Tank - spilling its guts

Well, my plastic radiator reserve tank has been spilling its guts for too long. Every day there's dried coolant around the outside of the tank and on occasion on the heat shield below. Tired of it.

I remember this being a problem with 2002-03 MCS in the past and maybe mine is just catching up now.

Sources for these tanks?
Aluminum tanks instead? I seem to remember someone selling one but can't find it.

Paul

Have you tried a new cap? Maybe more concerning is why is it boiling over?

Get a new coolant tank [comes with new cap], and most importantly, TIGHTEN THE CAP!

I have the Forge motorsports on my 2003. Had it waiting in my garage even before i recieved my car because of all the splitting issues on the OEM tanks. Check out my Gallery for pics of tank.

My '03 was well out of warranty when the tank started leaking, but MINI took care of it No charge. I understand the new ones are supposed to be made better

Yep, They fixed the problem. Your new OEM tank should be fine.

Not a boiling over situation, more of a slow leak, seeping.

1 bolt , 2 clamps

I have seen some bracket differences in different ones that I have installed.
An easy bend or just a washer size spacer was needed to keep the tank away from a potentoal rub issue.

The Canton Piece works great, and allows you to use a commonly available cap.

Please be careful this is NOT a standard cap !!!
(as far as pressure rate goes)
It should be 26 to 30 LBS
Usually only avaliable fron "speed" and HP auto shops

A Stant from Pep Boys with the same pressure rating won't work?

Yes it will work ...
I just wanted to be sure folks understood that this is not a STD 14 lb cap.

Stant cap won't fit MINSPEED tank, only a stock cap.

Does anyone make a stock-style cap that's beefier like this new aluminum tank I'm installing?

Thanks,
Paul

Stant part number 10393 or 10373

These are for the Canton tank.
