Fidanza flywheel and OEM clutch

Within the next week I will be having my 03 MCS's slipping clutch replaced with and OEM clutch. But I've come across a great deal on a light weight Fidanza flywheel... so I figured I may as well do that too while they are in there. My question is whether or not I will have any issues with this setup. I heard I would have alot of chatter noise. Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Rich

Here is the issue... The stock flywheel is a dual mass, in other words, two pieces. There are springs inside to dampen the transfer of power from the crank side to the clutch side. The OE clutch disc is solid, it does not have the damper springs that a "normal" clutch has. OE disc + solid flywheel = no dampening of the clutch. This will cause "honking" noises when engaging the clutch. I highly recommend the lightweight flywheel, but only when used with a "sprung" clutch disc.

I have this combination (OK on the OEM clutch I put the carbon mass) and it works just great.

I am very satisfied. It's a little noise downthere but MINI isn't some MB S class soo it's OK for me.
If you let off fast the clutch pedal there is a little jerk. But I most cases you don't feel this.

The old (original) MINI does not have a spring hub from factory.

Go for it. You will be happy.

Bye

Alright, well I think I'm going to go with an aftermarket sprung hub clutch. I found one for only $70 more than the OEM. Thanks.

Used to have this setup on ours..... Chattered so bad some people refused to drive the car. Swapped to a Giken... no noise at all.
