One of those ideas

Can anyone tell me what the air intake pipe needs to be. I have a CAI for a Mazda 3, nobody seemed to want to buy it from the site I was on, even had my post deleted and I was banned, just for asking y I couldnt sell it. Had the idea of mayby just modding it to make it work on the MINI. Shoot, its worth the shot and guy across the street has his own body shop. Just a thought though.

Well, just a comment. Anything can be done with the right tools and enough money. So, if you want, go for it. And then post some pics and a nice right up.

I will look at it and see, can anyone tell me what size the pipe should be connecting at the motor? Never looked that far down in the engine bay but I guess it connects to a throttle body or a manifold. I will monkey with it on Saturday, and if it works, I will put some pictures up, as well as some other pictures from the other weekend up to Brevard ending at the Cold MTN view.

there are two different intake tubes for the MINI S alone. a auto and 6 speed tube. here is a pic from the alta site:

do you have any stock pics of the unit you have?

I have a 6speed tranny so I guess a 6speed tube. I am going to attempt to put a Fujita F5 on it. Its supposed to go on a Mazda3, but that car was ran off for being a p0$. Then my MINI "Trixxie" was found and brought home. I can get my hands on a bender and other garage items so I am going to attempt to make it work. But I gotta look at every thing to see how everything will match up, fit, and work..... Going from the air box inroute, what all is connected to the stock airline?

A troll is someone who joins a forum soley to bash the car/community, and cause trouble.

The best way I can answer your question is simple: Do what you want...posting a picture would help to see what you need to modify, but it might be easier to try and sell it on ebay or the like, and just buy a MINI-specific intake. There are many options, all of which are very good, some silicon, some plastic, some metal. Some are louder than others, some mesh, and some foam... the choices are all good, so just pick which one fits your budget and mindset.

Thanks for the info Polizie, I will have a few pictures of my car this weekend on here, hopefully. I have been thinking of just selling the part I have. Someone had gave me a link for the pipe that goes between the filter and motor, I may go that route since I have the filter and just add the intake pipe. But anywho, thanks again to all that have gave me suggestions. And I will put pics up and a write up if I just modify the current kit.

it's just an intake. most of the work you do bringing cold air into the sc is going to be negated by the sc fins heating it up.

If you can make it work I'm sure it will be no worse/better then any of the existing "cai"s out there.

edit: I'm too lazy to find the pic for you but you can find pictures of the tube at www.realoem.com or you can just look at the silicone versions from alta or samco.

What are sc fins? I know some about cars, but I am still learning, especially about my MINI. I got the CAI sold for the Mazda sold, atleast guy said he would buy it, and I wont loose to much off it so..... I am still thinking I may fix something up for an intake. Friends body shop has some scrap, the first may not look pretty, but if its functional, I will do a nicer looking one up. But this is all a theory. But I will be sure to keep you guys up to date. Just gotta figure out the basics, how I want to run it, how to keep as much heat away as possible, and how to keep it functional.
Well I will talk to you all later.
