not change the wastegate,is it true does mini s have wastegate are this dealer in Mexico is trying to sell something that is not real.

He told me that it does not work to put more RPM on the Supercharger if you really don´t change the wastegate or recalibrate to support more PSI.

tell me please, because I have no heard on any tuner kit that a new wastegate is required.

Thanks

Your Mexican friend

I may be wrong here, but but I think the man's confusing a supercharger with a turbocharger.

If you put on a smaller pulley on the super charger you will increase rps creating higher boost pressure. In order ro fully take advantage of the increased boost you will have to make programming changes to the engine management. If you want some expert help. Call Anthony at PROMINI/BMP Design in Texas. you can go to the sponsor page for contact info.

Welcome to MCO, Ricardo!

Please visit us in the Mexico forum and we might be able to answer some of your questions (in Spanish, if you prefer)
Slegorreta is president of the Mexico MINI Club, and he knows a few tuners in D.F. who might be able to help you out.

You don't need anything other than the pulley to see significant gains. Look at my dyno charts by clicking on the "more" link in my signature below. You'll see what the pulley alone will do for you and then what an ECU upgrade will do on top of that.

Both are excellent upgrades!

Wastegates are on turbos, not superchargers. The MINI engine is supercharged. A 15% pulley seems to be the recommended number tested by various people (including the good folks at JCW)

To quote this page
The wastegate is a valve that allows the exhaust to bypass the turbine blades. The wastegate senses boost pressure, and if it gets too high, it could be an indicator that the turbine is spinning too quickly, so the wastegate bypasses some of the exhaust around the turbine blades, allowing the blades to slow down..
A Supercharger, on the other hand, is connected directly to the crank, so there is no "lag". Superchargers are able to produce boost at a very low rpm, especially screw-type and roots type blowers.
So since they don't seem to know the difference between a supercharger and a turbo I don't know if I would go back there.

Ricardo:
Sorry about the delay in answering your question.
The Mexican MINI club's website is http://www.mundomini.com
The club is growing fast an we've gotten together for quite a few meets/events so far.

Ricardo Legorreta is president of the club, I think he knows a lot of people in the Mexican Tuner community in general.
Join the club, and tell them Christian Lanz sent you! (Calvin77)
