I agree I would be in a padded room if something like that happened to my MINI.

Yea agreed!!If you are that involved with your project and your motor popped or something severe, I would know that same day... And its bad rep going for Gintani not letting you know asap and for customers... Hard to trust a company that won't know for a few weeks if they blew an engine or if its good...

You know I simply can't understand this...I Don't want to be part of a community of babies who go on half truths and slam others for pushing the limits...Who start crap for no reason...who are tough guys behind the safety of their monitors and key boards.

I have a life...and it's not NAM and it's for sure not mini...I have the utmost trust in Gintani and that's why I comfortable in not knowing what's going one for a couple weeks, that's why I;m comfortable shipping it out there...if anything happens that's not planned I get a phone call from Alex (owner of Gintani) for example there was a problem with my clutch that I had installed before I shipped it...they fixed it free of charge.

Anyway I'm done here on NAM and all other things to do with Mini's...This time was too far. I don't have time to deal with this crap...I hope people can learn what they can from my posts here on NAM...as I will be deleting my account.

The RMW crew managaed to push out another group that didn't Follow along with them, good job...

The RMW crew managaed to push out another group that didn't Follow along with them, good job...First off I am no part of the RMW crew and have no part on my car by any shop! And I was this close to having Jessie and Alex do the aftercooler twincharge setup on my car with their tune, turbo, everything needed... So don't think we all go by half truths here and talk ****... But the posts that are up and the issues with your car go unanswered. Seems like you'd wanna squash that crap right off the bat but that's just me, and I was waiting too to see the outcome of your project which never seems to be good news so what faith can there be in that? If your all about supporting Gintani, than put up info that proves they are badass... Otherwise, good luck with your car and sad to see you go!

it's interesting that it's NAM's fault. Gintani came on, both guns blazing with insults from the start and never did anything to back up their bravado.

Too bad...

I was hoping to learn about how it all worked out.....

Johan seemed to be a good guy, and I hope all ends well for him.

Johan, If you do end up reading more from NAM, you got to realize that on the internet, pretty much anything goes, both good and bad. Anyway, shoot me a PM and let me know how it all turns out....

Matt

I too have been following these Gintani threads looking for progress. I am always interested in new things and improvements brought to us by vendors.

I guess my wait continues....

Gintani did a lot to screw themselves...

so we'll see what comes out, if anything....

I'm hoping to hear some news from them, but if not, the grapevine will provide. The LA area is pretty small, when it comes down to it, and the news always leaks out....

You see we're not all on this site to bash and hate... everyone is interested in "NEW" things and especially if they are to change the game, myself among the top of that list... however we need GOOD return results and at least some attention paid by the Vendor...

Johan,

I posted the pic because you took a wack at my car. Like you our two projects have taken a long time. Mine has been a little here, wait, a little more and wait, try something then wait. I have endured smack from all over the place just like you. The one thing different about our projects is that my tuner didn't come out and make amazing claims and then never back up said claims. When........ my car gets done (I agree it's been to long) we will show the numbers good or bad. If my motor blows I will tell you all.

If the pic I posted wasn't from your car then some other poor mini owner who's car is at Gintani blew. I can tell you for sure that this is from a blown Gintani motor. If a tuner blows a motor pushing the limit who really cares. It's going to happen. Like I said in our PM's back and forth I'm just trying to give you the heads up.

As I have said before I think your good guy. The SoCal mini community is small and news gets out. This is the second blown motor from Gintani. I know nothing about them having another mini project but if it's not your then it's not yours.

PM me and I will give you my number and we can talk.

Bryan

Danny's motor isn't blown.

The only time he blew his motor because of a piston failure in his car they were Gintani Pistons. That was a LONG time ago. Actually before the iPhone even existed (That picture was taken with an iPhone).

Not sure where I was judging you anyway, I only said it was pretty bizarre for someone to ship their car 3k miles and not have a clue what's going on with it "For a few weeks, cause they're busy". I can understand busy, but I don't think I'd ever be so busy that I couldn't take 10 seconds to shoot an e-mail out that said "Hey, just checking on the car, what's going on?"

As for the rest of it, Gintani was the one that came on NAM talking all kinds of crap to everyone, threatening to pull guns on people (Smart!), and claiming how amazing they were. We all know each other down here, so yea, stuff gets passed around quick.

Talk of rods going in backwards, blown motors, Gintani disbanding completely, all things that have been floating around down here over the last few weeks. When an owner claims to not have a clue what's going on with their car, eyebrows get raised. Especially when that owner shipped their car across the country and hasn't even seen it lately. It has nothing to do with trust, it has to do with knowing what's going on.

When my car is in the shop I'm calling every day or two to check up on the status, because it's MY car, and I want to know what's going on! I have a life, a job, school, and many more priorities to tend to on a daily basis, so what? It doesn't take long to shoot an e-mail over to the shop or call someone to see what's up.

Not sure why you're taking the stance that NAM is out to get you. I wasn't aware that NAM as a whole was one autonomous, collective entity, news to me. If you feel the need to delete your account, by all means, do it. That's your decision.

Am I the only one who sees the coating on the skirts of the pistons?
I realize its hard to see where the welding of the skirts on the bore is due to the damage

CP pistons are shiney all the way around. You can CLEARLY see these are coated......

I wouldn't know what it looked like anyway, but I think it's somewhat hard to discount the fact that those pistons have said coating by looking at a .5 megapixel image taken on a camera phone...
