Man you are full of BS. The "Ice" scandal ia a joke. Danny did it because it was over 100 degrees out that day. Danny was testing parts that day that he just put on his car.

The best part Partsman is that Jan wasn't even there that day........ Did you get that because I think you have a hard time understanding some times. Jan wasn't there!!!

I have had my car dynoed many time from Jan and not once was ice used.
Just a good old fan plus a carpet fan held over the intercooler. But I must be full of BS because I'm a fanboy or employee in you eyes. How many tunes on independent dyno's does Jan have to do before you believe the numbers man.

Thread warning!

I realize that there is disagreement in this thread but the name call and general lack of respect needs to end. This goes for everyone including vendors in this thread. Any additional posts like the ones I've seen will result in posting access being suspended for a period of one week as a cooling off period. Either way wouldnt the extra hood scoop add a nice piece??
Get a carbon one to match my carbon hood and ill throw one on!!!
But I'd still have to go with the W2A... Just another mod to add to the mod list at HIN!!!

I have a CF lip on my scoop. I can't prove it helps but I'm sure it does. I took a dremel to the stock scoop under the lip and opened up the scoop another 1/4".

Well I have the carbon hood and carbon scoop but its not like yours... yours is the bada$$ aggressive one... I think a carbon one behind the IC would look killer... but hacking up my hood for anything but another carbon piece is a no go...

Hard to tell from that image Longboard, is the lip you added a production piece? Does it just fit to any scoop or is there modification that you have to do.

I have a friend that might be interested in something like what you've done.
More air over any IC is better

It is a production piece that just sticks on the stock scoop. I had a BBR lip from the UK then found this copy in CF.

This pic shows it sticking up past the hood just a little bit. I fixed that over the weekend by eliminating the stock mounting bolts for the scoop. They raise the scoop about 1/4". The edges of the lip now sit flush with the hood.

Jan on his stroker as of recently and Danny on his car. I'm not sure if there's anyone else?

(regarding my previous post)

I'm personally pretty happy that RMW/Jan actually TESTS his parts before trying to sell them. This way, if there is something wrong, he catches that and fixes it. Many vendors (including a certain alphanumeric tuner) don't. When the laminova is sold, we can be much more confident that it a) works and b) is reliable. Plus, RMW always posts dyno numbers when they say they will. The other tuners make all kinds of excuses why dynos are "unreliable" to mask the reality that their products just don't work.

IN MY OPINION, the DFIC suffered because M7 did not dyno test or track test the car before selling it, and when it became obvious that the design suffered from heatsoak, instead of fixing or even acknowledging the problem, they just continued to sell it because people would buy and that helped the bottom line. If they had tested it and improved it, it could have been great.

Partsman comes in (With just as many M7 leg humping sig references) and talks about icing an IC (Which may or may not have happened...). Perhaps Danny wanted to see the effect it had on #'s? Jan certainly doesn't ice every single IC on every car he tunes, that'd be pretty ridiculous to assume (Especially since you've never even been to any of his tuning events). So now, the thread goes to $h!t, it's closed, everyone warned yet again.

So here are the cliff notes:
1) Ingsoc posts his experiences with the DFIC
2) I question someone's decision to cut up their hood to install an A2A that wouldn't outperform a W2A even if it worked properly, which it doesn't.
3) Partsman injects his Newtonian logic about icing intercoolers (What that has to do with anything in this thread I have no idea).
4) Yet another thread is closed due to an M7 vs RMW brawl!

Good Job
I have to apologize to Longboard and Jan for thinking that their mentality is the same as yours. I found out today that it clearly is not. If the other end of my conversation today wants to post, fine. If not, that's fine too.

If I were Jan, I would take all the RMW parts off your car while you were asleep and give them to someone who can be a better representative of the customer base that Revolution Mini Works has built.

Yea, I'm pretty sure Laminova makes them for other cars as well, I'm sure the numbers are even higher if you include those.

I wish I was a rep. At least then I'd get a better deal on some of his parts.

I live almost 80 miles away from Jan (2.5 - 3 hour drive in LA's traffic), and even further from his shop, not really conducive to working for him.

I wouldn't make a very good rep anyway, busy with my real job, and I blow at sales.

Apology accepted and I apologize for the tool reference.

Everyone that really knows me, know I care about making the best products available and I will continue to do so. The Mini community deserves it

Most people who have met me arond the country know what I stand for and that's why my business has been a success. Most never take what is said on the net in the proper light anyway, it's usually in the light they want to see it in. This in itself causes major problems. Most are easily settled with a simple phone call to hear the sincerity in a persons voice. Thank you LONGBOARD

I'm positive that most wouldn't feel this way about Nick if they actually met the young man in person. He is a sponge of knowledge and researches stuff incessantly. Yeah, he's young and ambitious but so what? Weren't we all at one time or another? I really think most are taking his comments in the wrong light.

Read them for what they are worth.... he has spent major money trying out products, he knows what works and what doesn't from an end user point of view. (he's constantly monitoring timing, inlet temps, pressures etc so he sees the data) Look, we have all bought stuff in our lives that at the end of the day was just stuff that we had no business buying for whatever reason. Some have a hard time admitting it was a bad deal so they justify having bought it.

I have spent incredible amounts of money testing stuff, my own stuff, others stuff and the like. WHy? because no one else would do it. This isn't cheap to do, nor fun. I would have given my left arm to find someone to test all of the stuff I have spent my own hard cash on. I pioneered many projects with my own money when I was an enthusiast, pushing boundries where no other vendors would go at the time. Hubie Fuh was the only other vendor that was out there that had the same mentality to push the envelope. We would all be stuck at 200whp if we hadn't done what we did 5yrs ago. While we forged onward, we caught major flack from vendors along the way but it didn't stop us. What you see now in the Mini community is fruit from that tree planted 5yrs ago.

I took my 17yr old son around with me today, he watched me answer emails and the incessant phone ringing all day. (not to mention the phone calls in voice mails that I still need to return) His comment to me was... "why do you do it dad?"

I said, son.... it's a passion I have , some day you will find something that moves you to be the best at. When you find it, embrace it.

I can honestly say I have met many wonderful people in the Mini community and most would give the shirt off their backs. I want to thank each and every one of you for your caring and sincerity.

I know this was long winded but certain things need to be said and now is a good time to start.

thanks for your time....

This post is the quintessence of what it is to be passionate about what you do. Motoring is a passion we all share, I'll be the first to admit I get way too wrapped up in it.

Great post Jan, I think you summed it up quite nicely.
