SCDA HPDE Schedule
Saw the email. Nice to see SCDA is moving forward
I wonder if Elivan is partnering up with anyone like they had before?
FWIW - I came across some really good recent video on YouTube that Ian took racing at LRP in his MINI. He we moving up through the pack quite nicely.

Just received the Vorshlag camber plates. Nice pieces but the customer service sucks. Going to put them on this weekend, so I won't be able to travel to LRP. Eddie07S have a great time. Will be at LRP for the Pirelli World Challenge races on Saturday, always sit outside hill near Big Bend.
Just scheduled my custom fabricated roll bar. Going to install June 11, parts and pieces in machine shop this week and should be done to complete then. Will photograph after.

Just need to do an oil change and will be ready for LRP. Really looking forward to it.
It looks like it should be perfect weather too. I'll do my best to be at the race on Saturday. Will look for you and S-Driver
All's well that ends well. Wilwood fronts and TCE rear kit on and tested.
Eddie07S: I tried to take a pic of the TCE rear kit for you but it's hard to get light in there. It uses the OEM brake, a Wilwood hat, and a big Wilwood-style rotor manufactured by a TCE partner. It's probably is as much for show as performance.
SDriver: What make/model are those 17" wheels I said I didn't need?

Beyond appearances the value of a rear kit is proper brake balance with the big front rotors and also the added thermal capacity that you do not have with the stock rotor when needed for open track day use
Hard to say. I have no way of comparing the kit with the Wilwood fronts to the OEM rears with the Wilwood fronts. Should you take the plunge, PM me and I will give you some installation tips. It's a pain to install and you can learn from my mistakes.
Well, quite a nice day was had at LRP yesterday. Weather held up and there was no rain. It was mostly overcast and in the low 70s.
The real story was the new wheels and tires. The new Bridgestone RE71Rs are Freckin' Frackin' Amazing
. They have grip and when you ask for a little bit more, they always seem to have more. Turn-in is great and they are very linear. And they make no noise
. Unlike the Dunlop ZIIs, they didn't seem to give up as the session progressed. They hung in there with little change right up to the end. In comparison to the Toyo 225-45x17s R888, the 205-50x15s RE71Rs pulled the same Gs in the corners around the track. These are mounted on Kosie 7" wide wheels; the Toyos are also mounted on 7" wide wheels.
So, my advise for anyone looking for new tires for the track, forget Rcomps and all of their expense. Go with a set of these for 1/3 to half the cost and they will last longer. With the added benefit of being able to drive to and from the track with them...
The new Bilsteins worked well. Nice, firm well controlled ride but not punishing. They actually brought back the ability to do bit of throttle steering which I thought I had lost with the addition of the sway bars. The car's transition in the esses was very crisp; the tail wag of past days is gone.
I hope to post some video soon.
I got to meet up with VehiGAZ... A very chance meeting. One of these where I overheard a conversation that sounded familiar to discussions posted here, took a chance and said "hey..." and wouldn't you know. Had a great chat with him and hope he gets to meet up with the rest of our group at some time. Maybe we can meet up at Palmer? Patroons has an event there in October...
Say, not sure on next Saturday. There is some talk of doing some family stuff over the holiday but nothing firm yet. So I'll see.

Put on the Ohlins Saturday, found I need to buy new drop links for front (boots are torn). Getting an alignment today so I can set the suspension. First impression is they are more compliant than the D2's. Needed to use springs that came with them due to lack of ride height adjustment. Raise overall ride height by 3/8" to 1/2".
Will dial in settings after alignment. Eddie07S what are your spring rates?

[QUOTE=zre;4210368]Put on the Ohlins Saturday,
I didn't realize Ohlins made coilovers for MINI. I put Ohlins on my other car last year and then did a car control clinic at LRP to test them out. They were outstanding. Let me know how they work out for you.

SDriver — I deleted the text you sent. Text me again at 2032411375. At the price you mentioned I may be interested. Thanks.

BTW - I didn't put in the TSW springs. I was on the fence about using them and with a slight figment issue, I opted out. Right now I am glad I didn't. The car is stiff enough for me.
Went to have car aligned. Found out that the front tie rod ends are rusted tight. Dealer wanted $990.00 to fix. Found a local shop to do for $545.00 Will have done on Tuesday then complete alignment. Going with -2 degrees front, 0 toe, -1.5 degrees rear, 1/16 toe in. This was recommended by Swift. I also think I need to replace drop links.
If you're considering the rear kit, don't do it yet. Had another big problem with it. I'm trying to sort it out. I think it is related to the length of the OEM emergency brake line and possibly the angle it is put at once the caliper is moved to the new position.

As for your alignment, that should be good for street tires. I have gone a bit more extreme. My front has -1.5 deg camber and the rear is -2 deg camber.
