Sorry video got preempted by a video program that no longer works since I upgraded to Windows 7

At the end of the month, the Continental Tire races at LRP. I will only be going on Friday given my other commitments.

Looking into upgrading my seat. Last time on track i was fighting staying the the seat. While i was on the track i was able to drive a PWC car and i fit perfectly in the OMP HTE-R XL, but seems like OMP is the only manufacture the doesn't forget about + size racers. I'm a 38-40 depending on what brand i wear.

HTE-R is a little out of my price range for right now, so i was looking at the OMP TRS XL. The price is right and it has bottom mounting options, so I'm hoping i can just use the Stock brackets. Any thoughts?

Seat upgrade is always good. There is a resistor that you will need to add to the OEM electrical seat connector to fake-out the computer for the airbag that won't be there. You'll have to do a search for that one.

The races are on the 23rd (Saturday); Friday is practice and qualifying, which I plan to go to.

I agree on that Slinger. Formula One has become a celebrity event, priced for celebrities and corporations. I'm hoping to go to USGP in 2017 0r 2018 assuming there still is one at COTA.

gkp: Waymotors has a kit to put JCW rotors on rear, was always considering this but other threads indicated that it was not worth it since the fronts do most of the work, but I see TCE point about brake balance and since I had an issue with the balance last time out I thought this might be an option.
zre: Did LRP with the Wilwood fronts and the TCE rear rotor kit today. Much more balanced than with the OEM rear rotor so +1 to Todd at TCE on that one. Bottom line: A rear kit will make a difference. However, at the end of the last two runs, when the brakes were good and hot, I got some chatter/instability braking into Big Bend and I'm not sure why. Stay tuned.

ON-TRACK MOMENT OF THE DAY: Someone in a Spec Miata gave me a left side wave-by on the left hander. WTF!!!???!!!

You always give the pass wave in the same direction as the next upcoming turn. This way the passing car is always passing on the inside. This is something that BMWCCA has started to do and it works really well once you get used to it.

Does BMWCCA let you pass anywhere on the track with a wave-by? Or do they have passing zones like SCDA? In no case is the left hander considered a passing zone on SCDA days. That's what made it so weird.

Hmmmmm - have to think about that one. I thought that for the advanced run group with Patroons that was a passing zone. I'm pretty sure on that, even though almost no one used it.

However, I know last year there was car to car contact twice in that area at an SCDA event. Maybe they just outlawed passing there to prevent further damage.

I have been less than thrilled with SCDA and their control over the events at LRP. There could have been some dive bombing going on when they had it if it was a passing zone and they are trying to prevent that and tighten up the events in general.

Finding this air bag resistor info is like looking for the the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, So many opinions, but no concrete answers, Some say it a 3.9r other say a 4.0r other say 2.3r. Also for the R53 the threads are so old from 08-09 i doubt any of does guys are around. found some DIY for an R56 hoping it the same.

Anyway i ordered
2 OMP TRS-E XL (hoping i can use the stock Rails)
2 G-Force 7501RD 6 point Harness (with all the hardware needed)

Was looking at a harness bar but for $270-$700 may as well get a whole roll cage. Bellow are what i have found so far

Roll Cage
Autopower 6 point Bolt in $1,300 (shipped) SCCA Approved
sneedspeed 4 Point Bolt in $700 (shipped) SCCA Approved
Need to check out a local shop that makes roll cages for drag and see what is there price. Price $unknown.

Leaning in the Autopower since i can remove the 2 points going to the dash when not at the track to make it easier to get in and out of the car.

Still looking for an Aftermarket Steering wheel setup and then again air bags come into to play. Any suggestion in size brand ect?

I am building a removal roll bar for my car, hopefully will complete this weekend. Will post pictures when done.

Also if you change the passenger seat you need to address the pressure sensor for the air bag system.

Let us know how it works.

I wonder if you can just pull a fuse to disable the air bag system?

Hey, just bought my tickets for Friday the 22nd and got a MINI Coral ticket.
Zre - I know you're coming and pretty sure S-Driver will be there...Anyone else interested.

Tomorrow is the last day for discounted tickets (save $10) otherwise you might as well buy at the gate. See you there...

Looks like the MINI corral gets booted to the outfield. And apparently no infield parking even if you get there early.

And here's the pit stall assignments:

It is in the same place it was last year. From the map seems like the whole infield are car corrals and camping.
