SCDA HPDE Schedule
Went to Lime Rock Park today to have my car noise checked. They let me do about 5 laps, with Simon as my right seat "driver". I must give them
as my car came in way under the limit and they must have thought I was nuts or was just making up an excuse for getting some track time
. At any rate they were great to me. Also, I suspect that no other Mini that is roadable will have problems. They were actually a little "loose" with how strict they were. There were definately some cars there that were boardline at best, if you know what I mean. As a bonus, I got to get some seat time with my new BBKs, seats, wheels, etc.
It is an interesting track and I want to go back to figure it out.

I got my TM registration confirm at WGI today. I am all set to be there on Saturday.
I think I will do LRP with s-driver and CART later this year.
Eddie, Are you off on good Friday next week?

Nah, that is my work Friday. Will start my shocks today.
BTY-I am leaving my rear swaybar setting on soft. I could feel the rear wanting to come around
. I need to get better before I deal with more of that. Also, the BBK worked well. The pads are settling into the rotors; the slot rumble is disappearing, but still not gone. The rotors were a little blue when I got done
. Dustin at AutoXcooper is working to get me the XP10s, but the Wilwood BP-20 pads worked well for this run. I did get a little advice about my driving, that I needed to improve my brake timing as I was holding the brakes into the corners.

The brake advise is classic skip TBO. There is not a corner that he does not like to do that. You will get yelled at by your instructors if they are not brought up doing that.
After so many days with skip, I naturally gravitate to TTO and TBO techniques during open track check outs and many times they are very unhappy with me.

I may have to skip that June LRP event with CART....
I thought the event was on Wednsday but it's actually Thursday of that week and I need to be at Mt Washington that night for my volunteer work at the Climb-to-the-Clouds Hillclimb. Can't be at LRP until 4-5pm and then go home and switch cars and then head north. Not interested in toting all my track stuff up there for nothing..
Might have to try for the September event or one with another club..
5-5 1/2 hour drive up there....maybe I can work a deal with CART leadership and get in line for the TT part first and then scram. I believe they start the TT about 2 or 3pm..

Got my rear shocks in...fronts are left to do. The FSDs in the rear seem to do ok. Looking forward to trying out the whole set (VV I am trusting you on this one
). Still waiting for track brake pads.

Finished with the front FSDs. I'm getting pretty good at this. Took me the afternoon, but most of that was getting ready and doing the right side. The left took less than an hour. Took it on a test drive around the park, where we went slinger. They are softer than yours - little hard to tell given how stiff your springs are
. They seem to absorb the pothole patches really well (almost softer than stock) but seem to have very good control. Looking forward to getting out on the track with them
.
BTY - The funny noise that they were making went away after I tighted the wheel bolts
ooops...

And when you push them harder, they will tighen up and feel connected to the road because of less rebound. That is what I like about the FSDs. Kind of Jekell and Hyde.
I only found one partial bottle of MTL in my garage so I will not be doing my Transmission fluid on Saturday.

You do not have to be a BMWCCA member to register but there is a cost difference. I think the cost difference used to be enough for you to become a member for a year. Not sure what it is now.
Hey, slinger -- long time, no see. I just watched someone do a seafoam treatment on an r56. very easy. Your neighbors will love the smoke!
Are you joining us at Trackmasters April 30 and May 1.
No, my first outing will be LRP on May 10. I've been busy as heck with my move and work. Plus, I had to do some work on a Prelude I am selling. Take a look at my driveway last Sunday. It's Family Wrench Day! My daughter-in-law is putting a spoiler on her new (to her) Forester ... you know my son's Legacy ... and I'm in the garage putzing with the MINI. The family that wrenches together cusses together!

Is there really a Mini in that "mess" in your driveway?
Claymore, I believe you are sort-of right at least for the WGI day. The MotorsportReg posting says "References needed if you are not a regular Patroon or NY Particpant". So you could list Slinger as a reference. I would suggest contacting Patroons to see what they want. Maybe they just want to know your experience and who might know you so they can weed out the crazies.
