Best Protection from Local Retailers

Is there a decent product that I can buy locally to protect my Mini's finish? I'm more interested in protection than an ultra gloss shine. From reading through the forum, it looks like a carnuba wax product might be the way to go. Thanks for any help.

ive tried several carnauba waxes from the retail stores including meg and mothers
but both did not turn out to my satisfaction. especially because they attracted dust,
not as durable, application/removal issues, etc.

for carnauba do it right and get some Best of Show from www.griotsgarage.com

If you are dead set on getting something from the shelf, NXT works good. It protects and last for 4-6 months depending on the enviroment and washing.

However, spend some time reading here and you will see Epic is a fav and does not cost much more. The money spent on the better product and a little shipping will pay off.

Epic is the best. But I would say if you HAVE to get something locally, then see if you can get some Meguiar's NXT...or TurtleWax Ice. Both are not bad for "OTC" stuff.

Agreed with the above. NXT is an awesome wax and is really easy to put on. For a spray on wax, I would highly recommend Eagle One NanoWax. It's not as easy as Prima Slick or Hydro to apply, but for off the shelf (Target's that is), it is awesome!

I like Trojans myself. Wait...wrong type of protection . Someone above said Turtle Wax ICE, ICE is a polish, not wax, so it has little to no protective qualities in it.

I thought Ice was a synthetic wax?...just a clear liquid one?

ETA: Okay, I just checked on their website and it is a wax. They just use the word "polish" liberally. If you read what it does, it's definitely a synthetic wax:

I stand corrected, I used to use it as a polish before...and without a better wax over it, it seemed to only last for under a week, less if it rained.

you guys lost me here... NXT is also polymer wax.

i thought the guy was looking for canauba wax... (?)

try some Hydro. you thought NXT was easy, Hydro is like
less than 1/4 of the effort and lasts longer.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Regarding Hydro. For protecting the finish, is it ok to use it on a new car or should a base of wax (carnuba or synthetic) be put down first?

Thanks,
Randy

new car has baked paint. does not matter which you use, you can apply
immediately.

hydro is okay to be applied immediately after (or during) delivery.

Sorry, I don't think my question was clear. What I meant was, does Hydro by itself provide adequate protection, or are you guys using it over a base coat of wax.

Thanks,
Randy

Hydro is, in itself, an adequate layer of protection. It is often used over another wax as a 'pick-me up' when the other wax is loosing its luster. But all-in-all, Hydro will provide an adequate protection (Kenchan figures over 4 weeks, through snow and rain) for your MINIs paint.

When I read the title of this post, I thought you were looking for protection AGAINST local merchants. I recommend asking for discounts, if that's the case.
