My Plan For My Detailing?

So, as previously posted I ordered a whole bunch of stuff from DP and was wondering if what I'm planning on doing is correct/worth it.

I'm planning a wash with dawn to strip off all the other crap that I had on my MINI prior. Then followed by a wash with some car soap. After spray Hydro and dry with waffle weave drying cloth. From there I'm going to break out my PC and put on some a coat of Swirl using the DP orange pad, removing with a less then name brand MF. Followed by a coat of Amigo using the DP white pad, removing with a less then name brand MF. Followed by Epic using the DP black pad. While Epic cures I'm going to clean my pads and do my windows with Clarity and the DP Glass MF Cloth. Remove Epic with my Monster Fluffy and then another coat of Hydro removed with my Paradise MF Buffing Cloth. With another coat of Epic the next day.

Does this sound like the right stuff in the right order? Also how long should I leave Swirl and Amigo on before buffing it off?

I would skip the Hydro after Epic. Let it cure the full 24, Re- apply, let that cure, and you should use Hydro after a wash. You can use it as a QD, but Slick is much better for that IMO. Hydro after washing helps the Epic out, but with 2 coats, It'll hold strong for months.

Thanks for the advice that the after Epic Hydro would be almost useless I'm turning into an addict...but hey, this order was about $15.30/lb, I can't think of any street drugs that are cheaper (or legal.)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong... but I think applying a coat of Hydro after washing when you are about to use a PC & Swirl on your Mini is a waste of Hydro since the Swirl will just remove the newly applied Hydro. Plus I see no reason to use Dawn to strip of your old wax. Using the Swirl w/the PC should strip off your old wax so washing with your normal carsoap should be fine. Plus I would add one step, you need to claybar the Mini after washing & before you break out the PC (keep in mind I do not understand the DP pad system as my 1st time out w/the PC I will be using the Mequiar's pad w/ Mequiar's Speed Glaze & then Klasse)

O wow I didn't even catch that. I would just do a normal wash and claybar. Clay should take some of the wax off of it, but Swirl will take it all off either way. Wash normally, then Swirl, then protect with Epic, then after some time and you need to wash, then use the Hydro.

I know you guru guys know all the impotent stuff but the only reason I know any of it is thanks to OG's wonderful PC CD. I gotta break it out for a refresher viewing before I deflower my PC next Saturday

I know, I was really scared of the PC before viewing it but now I feel confident

Don't forget to claybar Jeremy. It is a crucially important step you have left out. If you don't have any run to the store & pick up the Mequiar's clay kit. It works really well & should be available locally.

Clay helps so much, it's just time consuming. Definatly need to do it to get the full effect of the products your using.

Yep the prep work you do is as important (actually probably more important) than the wax you apply afterwards damn you people, because of this place I have learned way more of this stuff than any girl oughta know. I need to go paint my nails & get a bikini wax or something

That is correct Jeremey. As far as the pads go, it all depends how bad your paint is. I would try swirl with the white LC pad before the orange one, then use Amigo with the Grey LC pad, then follow with Epic on the LC grey pad. Make sure you wash out the Grey pad after using it with Amgio. Then next time you wash, use the Hydro when you dry the car, the stuff is AMAZING!!! If the swirl with the White LC pad isn't giving you the results you want, jump to the orange pad. Feel free to PM me with any other questions. Good luck!
