I like how that platform thing has the shelf on top though, so you can line up some products without having to get on and off.

But it probably is way too tall. I really only need like an extra foot or so off the ground.

I agree that step is nice, could be too tall for the MINI. I did use one at a friends place when working on his Volvo Wagon. It came in handy while working between the roof rack. When i found out we could have just taken the rack off with four screws, i was alittle furstrated, but the wagon looked great!

I like standing on an inverted bucket to gain added reach. Just be careful not to kick the bucket while doing it.

LeatherCare Spray

Oh Ken - you were right (of course - like I ever doubted you)...

The LeatherCare Spray ROX. You characterized it well - the Nero of Leather - the stuff is about 5x as good as the retail Meguiars stuff I was using (that is now headed for the garbage)...

Goes on smooth, feels like it's cleaning and conditioning, dries quickly, leaves a nice matte finish. Perfect.

yep, i should have them probably tomorrow or Friday... not sure, maybe
next week. im not sure if Griots actually stock those at their warehouse
or not.

you should DEFINITELY try the piloti's. they are by far VERY comfy to
drive with and to also wear around the house. some of them are very
stylish like my monaco's in black/gray. looks great for even business
casual days.

yah, the LeatherCare spray is an excellent product. you can
probably use the remainder of your Meg leather care stuff for your shoes
or something.

Okay, if I remember. I got: a squeegee, adhesive remover, touch up paint syringes (just in case MINI ever figures out how to sell the paint in the US), Torx set, leather care kit, 4 detailing songes, micro fiber drying towel, speed wipes. However, the ultimate wash bucket did not come. So, I got nowhere to hide this stuff!

This stuff came yesterday, BTW

One new thing I just got - and tried successfully yesterday, are these:

I REALLY like how these things work - They're made of a porous, semi-spongy plastic foam type material. You dunk them in the bucket - they hold a lot of water/soap - then scrub away between the spokes to reach the back of the wheel. My wheels aren't as challenging as some- but they work GREAT for me. They're just "aggressive" enough to break up and wash away the dust easily, but they're not scratchy. After each scrub, just a plunge & swish through the bucket easily rinses out all the dust and reloads with soap for another spoke... really quick and easy... and cheap...

Well, crap, I can't just order those... So now it's back to the catalog to see what else I can get.

BTW, whatever soap you are using turned your hands green.

i have their old yellow one which is nice too, but not as nice as the
new one. (which means kenchan is looking for an excuse to rid
the yellow one. )

I'm honestly afraid to use my mini orbital. Richard scared the bejeezus out of me with his story about burning the paint off some car he was working on with one.

So while I assume mine is defective, I'll never know, because I'm too scared to use it.

Anyway, they told me they'd have the "fixed" batch sometime in August.

I'm going to order some of those wheel brush/sponge things. My horseshoe wheels are killing me compared to the old 5-stars.

I ordered the PC from DP. I don't know how much use it will get on the car, but should be fun to chase the kids with.

really? man, i would just take it nice and slow until you get a
feel for the machine and just go at it.

but what is the actual problem? does it not slow down when you put
pressure on the pad (like working a direct drive)?

I just ordered...

From Griot's:

Funnels and dispenser (been meaning to order for a while now, I need to change the oil AND I'm tired of spilling Clarity on my driveway)

Engine kit (thanks to the MC2 article, I felt guilty)

And the aforementioned wheel scrubbers.

Then I ordered the two brushes mentioned in the wheel well brush thread.

I did??? I'm sorry!!!! That wasn't my intention. Like all power tools you just need to exercise caution. There was a thread on another detailing forum the other day about a guy who burned the paint on his spoiler---he thought a PC couldn't burn the paint--but given the pad and chemical he used and his method for using the PC, he indeed did burn the paint--the spoiler was plastic and painted plastics don't tolerate heat like painted metal, so the paint lifts and wrinkles.

It's okay I know it wasn't your intention.

I think my issue is that I meant it specifically for the roof and the pillars...and the pillars are plastic...ieeeeeee. I don't know, it just freaks me out. Add that to the fact that they've recalled them (they told me I could keep mine until I have an issue with it, which...at this rate will be never since I haven't used it!)...

That's what using ALL these car car products'll do to ya.

But small price to pay for automotive next-to-godliness.

nice! I have that funnel and dispenser too and a box of refills.
it's great to have not just for the garage but in the kitchen when
you need to pour old veggie oil or grease , etc. into a bottle for disposal.

im kinda wondering if griot's gallon bottle spout would work on the DP
bottles... nothing like spilling fresh Hydro/Slick/Clarity.. (yah, i
did spill a tiny bit of Slick when i was filling my bottle the first time due
to sudden air bubble movement... oh well, my mistake. ).
