Yes, I often get like 4-5 dollars minimum removed from shipping charges. There are no advantages of doing it over the net. the catalogue has more options in it also! only company that actually wants you to call on the phone vs make net sales. This is the main reason why I use them still. Det.Paradise would also fit into this customer friendly style. I sort of locked into griot's for a while and am enjoying it though so far.

they are friendly people over at griot's but you can usually tell from their
voice that there are a-hole greedy customers calling all the time asking for favors cause their first impression is that they dont want to take crap from customers. One time the lady gave me a cold shoulder that i wasnt that big of a customer (her words) and didn't want to help me with my defective wash bucket other than by the book.... then i asked her to look one month prior to the small order she was looking at. then all of a sudden she was nice. When you deal with DP it's completely different. even if you ordered just a small $15 order they still treat you right from the beginning. but i would also appreciate it if people would not get too greedy. greedy customers spoils it for everone...especially those with disposable income that just want to make a pleasant purchase and enjoy the product. |
Griot's is very customer centered. I know them personally and they will bend over backwards to help a customer. They do however have customers that do take advantage of them. A while back a customer returned a car cover for a Mercedes that they purchased 5 years ago and at that time Griot's had the lifetime satisfaction guarantee. The customer returned it saying he was no longer happy with the cover since he sold his Mercedes and wanted his money back. They did refund it but they have also change that guarantee to 180 days. But everything they sell has a lifetime defect guarantee, not many companies offer that.

I agree.
customers ruin good places. At my store, I have a rule: The customer is never right. It works well as the majority of customers nowadays think that they have a right to abuse a retail outfit. Nowadays profit % is MUCH smaller than it used to be. There is little room to accomodate the aggressively irritating customer. the car cover deal was raw. jeez. 180 days is 180 more days than anyone gives on anything. |
EMPBA will net you a free 8oz WindowCleaner. :)

I read the post from mini-rolls and it made me sick. It never fails to amaze me how STUPID customers can be. Selling a car as a reason to return a car cover? I would want to wring that customer's neck.

Every company that sells to the general public and has a "no questions asked" return policy has tales of abuse. There is a strange ethic in the mass psyche that says "beating the system" is admirable and shows that the cheapskate... er, "wise consumer" knows how to look after his money and is very savvy indeed.
I live within a few miles of L.L. Bean who also have a policy of full refunds for any reason. The highest turn-over rate for employees are the people who work the returns desk. They have to be polite - even friendly - to people who they know are ripping-off the company. I heard a story about a guy who runs an ice cream stand during the Summer. He hires college kids to work there, and would bring them all into Bean's store at the beginning of the season to buy them matching chinos and polo shirts. Then after Labor Day he would show-up with a pile of stained, faded, and worn-out polos and chinos looking for a full refund. He always got it, but it really erodes the faith that the store employees have in human nature. |
i worked retail when i was in high school and college (ok, so long time ago)
so i know what you guys are talking about. it is tough, customer can be REAL stupid, but there's always a great customer hidden in the wall of crap. you just have have a keen eye and be prepared. :) |
yeah, humanity deserves no faith in it. it is above all things selfish, and in america, you can add Immature and shortsighted.

PBA900 will net you a free 8oz SprayOn wax. :)
I ordered those magnetizer/demagnetizer for screw drivers along with a dustpan that was on sale in their garage sale section. SprayOn wax and SpeedShine are my absolute favorites from Griot's. :) I accidentally tossed that small 8oz bottle last time so got me another one. It's great to do small areas with it. ie: mirrors. |

Guys, don't buy this filter wrench. i thought it was a good design, but the
pivot point slips and does not work (at all) on smaller filters. ended up using my craftsman kingkong filter wrench when i did the oil changes today on my civic and legacy. http://www.griotsgarage.com/images/p...g/11913_LG.jpg |
