Factory and Dealer wax residue and grease

Open your hood and make sure to remove any signs of that yellow looking grease/gunk that may be towards the firewall and upper strut locations - it appears to be some kind of wax/glue/grease that will in fact, discolor over time and you will not be able to remove it. It may be left over grease for the hood pin hinges that has leaked into your engine bay.

Also - make sure to look for white wax that the dealer used to prep your car - again, this will dry and you will not be able to remove it over time./

Just last night I saw some wax stuck under the hood - near the washer nozzles - hard to see unless you look under there.

Also - do not forget to remove that clear cover off your "Mini" logo on your enginve cover - it will burn itself on the logo.

I'll try to post pictures later.

My car had plastic protective covers everywhere. After pointing them out to my motoring advisor and removing them, I jokingly asked him whether I would be credited with a portion of the "dealer prep" fee. He was quick on the uptake and reminded me that his dealership does not charge "dealer prep."

I was thankful that their delivery procedure included a complete walkaround inspection of the car to ensure I was satisfied.

I was fortuneate for the power to go out at FLOW MINI. (a tractor trailer took out a transformer and they were without power for a couple of hours) Anyway, it allowed me extra time to really go over the car. What did I find? I discovered that the passenger door was not hung properly so it did not shut properly without slamming it. I found a a paint "burr" on the trailing edge of the bonnet. (It pays to run your finger around all the edges of all the doors and panels.) And thirdly, the bonnet release did not release. They took care of everything on the spot. So it pays to go behind the dealer. INSIST that you have some time alone without the salesman so there are NO distractions so that those who are waiting patiently for their MINI's will go home with EXACTLY what they wanted. I'm not knocking FLOW MINI at all. They were truly professional and addressed all my concerns immediately. I love the car. I have just broken it in and it runs beautifully. The build quality for the price in my opinion is hard to beat. Just make sure you go home with your car exactly the way it should be.

HELP! I tried using isopropyl...what I got was along with gunk was RED PAINT. I also used Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover and got the same disasterous results. Poor Mini, just off the truck on Thursday.
