DCMM MINI Takes the States Event Information
VOLUNTEERS
I need about four people planning to attend the Saturday night game who can come at 5:00 pm for tailgaiting and help take payment for cars arriving. MINI of Sterling has asked for a little help with this. If you can committ, please PM me. Thanks!
RAIN PLAN
Rain plan you ask? Well, we don' really have one.
If it is raining on Friday night, the theatre operator says the show will go on rain or shine. They even have a generator, so losing power is not a problem! If it is raining, I am sure the drive will continue (Stacey and Jay will be leading) but it won't be as spirited!
If it is raining Saturday night, the event at RFK will happen as long as the ballgame is not called due to rain. MINI of Sterling is planning on being there rain or shine.
Friday, September 1st in Charlottesville VA
MOVIES ARE: "Cars" first showing. "Pirates of the Caribbean" is the second show.
Drive in movie night.
This event will not be on the MTTS web site and MINIUSA is not involved in planning or promoting it.
Fork Union Drive Inn. The Drive Inn is about 40 minutes from Charlottesville in a very small town called Fork Union. The back way goes through the country past the entrance to Thomas Jeffersons Farm. (Fun Road) The cousin of a DCMM member runs the drive inn. (We tried to get The Italian Job, but this movie was already in the works and there is not time to change it.)
The movie starts at sun downwhich will be about 8:00. The drive inn opens a hour before dark. They have a concession with the typical stuff plus barbecue. They do not have a websight, but www.Charlottsvilletourism.org/php-bin/resource.php?id=428 will get you some info.
They can handle about 180 cars total - including their regular customers.
We need to arrange some sort of RSVP for this. This is still TBD. For now you can RSVP on this thread
This event is open to MTTS registrants only. Not open to DCMM members who have not registered for MTTS.
We will gather at the Omni parking for the drive over. About 40 minutes. Stacey and Jaysen Kim will be leading the group and gathering everyone together.
Someone should MapQuest the directions??

PARKING INFORMATION
MTTS will be an assigned group should park in Lot 7 access off Benning Road (best entry point and just off of 295). As you may recall the District of Columbia does utilize cameras for speed enforcement and one of these locations is just off 295 as you exit at Benning Road and on Benning Rd. as you go back to the highway (please make your drivers aware of these cameras)
Here is a link to a parking map:

We may decide day to open it up to non MTTS registrants the day of the event and charge face value for the tickets and $15 for the parking on top of that. Mike Arata will decide that later on.
Both should be really fun events during this cross country event.
Let's Motor ..... Let's Give to Motoring Hearts .......... Let's Play Ball.

The Drive In Movie won't.
I'm in for the Nats game. But can't make it to the drive-in because I got tix for the Nats game on Friday night as well (2nd row, 1st baseline!!!). Lots of baseball with Kings Dominion and Limerock, what a great weekend!!!

We're going to have to discuss your vocabulary over cocktails

Good luck with that though.
