Ok, I thought I would start a new thread so other people of the club can see what we are talking about. At the Dragon, Atlanta Minis had flags on their cars. They were pretty cool, we thought it may be kind of cool to make some of our own. I have done a little research and found a place that can make two sided ones (car flags, the kind that you put in the window) for about $600 for 100 flags before tax and shipping.

Now I don't know if we can make our own, I have asked some of our artist friends, and I am willing to help in the making of them, and I am going to continue to look online for more companies about this, but I know I want one! Maybe 2..I'll put one in the Fake MINI too!!

I am going to look for just the flags so we can attatch them to the antennas, because the ones I found are already on a little pole. (I guess I'll have to get a new antenna since we chopped ours ) But I wanted to know what people thought about this idea and to see if people were intersted!

People who want flags so far..This will give me a good idea about how much it will cost to purchase them!

I have hear some peeps around here have silk-screens and other fabric decorating equipment. Maybe a cheap-o flag would prevent the coordination for a 100 flag order...?

Either way, I'd support and buy one if necessary.

 

yeah, I have asked, but I don't want to pressure. So I am looking at all avenues.

 

I like the idea of a DCMM Flag on the antenna but don't care for the one on the plastic pole that attaches to the car - it looks cheap. Put me down for two. One for now, one extra just in case ...


BTW How much will it be for a large flag? On the 4th of July Parade I had the US Flag flying from my convertible ... I will buy a DCMM flag and show it off during our runs...

Mariana, I was looking into the smaller car flag sizes. I don't know how much it would be for a regular sized flag. I can look though.

I don't like the stupid plastic pole either. That is why I was hoping maybe we could make them ourselves, since we have some crafty elves here, but who knows what will be! I am willing to offer my sewing machine and figuring out how to put gromits in, and will help with screen printing (haven't done that since high school, but it is like riding a bike, no?) It may be cheaper to do this way, I am also looking at materials for the flags themselves.

I, too, have a stubby antenna, and I don't have the stock one anymore. I'd love to get a flag or 2 but I don't know how I'd get them to attach.....?

 

simple .... We get the mini-MINI flags

You will need a microscope to see them since there is just no way I would ever go back to that huge tent pole

 

We too have a stubbie. We were just going to buy a new OEM antenna and use it only on runs.

 

Now that would be dedication to the House of MINI up and beyond the call of duty

 

Im not too sure if i will let him go that far as to buy a new tent pole. I can't stand them. We chopped ours for a nice cheep way to make a stubby sinceI don't listen to the radio, it doesn't matter!

I can always tie it onto the wing! LOL

But we are trying to make some kind of stable camera mount that can screw onto the attena post so I may fly it underneath the camera! Who knows!

Still searching for mini-MINI flags..I guess we could use the ones we put in drinks or burgers! LOL

 

I have an American Flag about 3x5 inches made of foam on my stubby.Not at all affected by the wind or weather.I purchased the flag last year in Roswell N.M. at the annual VW gathering.Q

 

It works because ET made it!

 

+1 Unless its used solely for special events. I can't see driving everyday with such a large flag on the car.

 

what about DCMM antenna *****? www.happyballs.com will do custom ones. Perhaps not as visible as a flag, but antenna size won't matter.

OK people, chime in if you are interested in getting flags. I am gathering intel on what size, mounting, pricing and stuff like that. I will get some more info and am talking to the powers that be about money, so anyway, chime in andI am going to put a list up and will be getting back to everyone soon.
If you want them, PLEASE post so. We were talking about getting them for the MINI takes the states run to show our club colors, and if so, we need to act soon..The average time for getting them is 4-6 weeks!
