DCMM Dragon Planning Volunteers

This is a message out to all the DCMM members who are volunteering on the Dragon planning sessions.

If you have been at any of the previous meetings and still plan on helping out with the planning of events and such please PM me your email address to add to the mailing list (dcmm only please) if you aren't already subscribed. I'll also open this up to DCMM members (current and former) who were involved in the planning/execution in previous years so that they might be able to lend some advice to help us figure out what's going on this year.

Some basic information:
  • The email list is just for DCMM planning of our Dragon Events, it is not for any other club events.
  • It is for planning only, not volunteers at the dragon. There will probably be a message calling for volunteers at the dragon closer to the event itself.
  • Any decisions we make that will effect the overall planning will be relayed to the global dragon mailing list.

Can someone give some more details about this whole DRAGON thing. I just got back from Germany earlier this year after 3 years (got our Mini a week before we came back) and am still fairly new to all this stuff. From the little details that I've seen about it, it seems like a great time to test the Mini out. Can someone who's been before let me know how it is.

It's in NC correct?

If you go here https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...play.php?f=141

you can find lots of information.

In a nutshell, the Dragon is a stretch of road in NC that is a great MINI road. Every year, the first full weekend in May, a group of MINI owners from all over the US gather there to drive and socialize. DCMM played a large role in planning last year's events and we are doing some of the same this year.

The Dragon

And in the thread below is the info from last years. It may give you a more complete picture than the thread for this years so far...

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...splay.php?f=86

Preparations are spooling up now, and a lot of info for this years Dragon will be forthcoming shortly. But suffice it to say the central theme is a 11.5 mile road with 318 turns, with no cross streets, driveways etc along that entire length. The road is VERY twisty and seems like its just meant for sports cars. Add to that beautiful smokey mountain scenery and socializing with a couple hundred fellow MINI owners and it's a great couple days.

I've had a couple comments that some people who are on the list aren't receiving e-mails. So, is anyone else who was at the planning meeting last weekend not receiving any mail from the list?

Thanks!

Well the Dragon T shirt is gong to be done by NAM and Mark Ferguson... There are plenty of volunteer opportunities though if you'd like to help out. Including the need for folks to help with the registration table - check in on site.

I'll help with that, too. Just give me a time and place....you could even do it at my house, if you want, since I have lots of room...just a thought.

The bag stuffing probably won't be until next month at the earliest as we have a cutoff for registration of the end of March. So it'll be after that date as we have to wait for stuff to start showing up (after being printed).
