Off Topic :: My art show opening

The art is not mini related, but want to invite everyone. I am having an art show at Quiet Waters park in Annapolis, MD from Thus. Sept. 22 - Nov.6. There will be an opening reception on Sun. Sept. 25 from 2-4.

Some of the works being shown can be seen at my website: www.sagworks.com.
The artwork can be seen under the "illustration section"

If you'd like to go to the opening reception, please print out the show invitation - it will waive the park entrance fee (normally $5). http://www.sagworks.com/iframe-index...s-postcard.pdf

Plus, I know my dad would think it was cool to see so many mini's in one place.

Also - for the crafters and people who like craft shows. A friend & I have a spot in crafty bastards2. it is an 'alternative' craft show in DC (western market) on Oct. 1. More info - http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/c...ards/index.php. last year it was a lot of fun and should be this year too. My friend and I (go as 2 chicks) will be selling record bowls, album cover notebooks, duct tape wallets/ipod cases (if any requests I can add a mini to the front of them), special pins, and more. Some images of our stuff - http://www.sagworks.com/crafty.html

Thanks!!!!!!

Sherrill, this is excellent! Congrats on opening an art show! Wouldn't this be right around the time your Mini should be showing up? How awesome would that be to have an art show and your Mini!

Thanks!

It would awesome if people came out. There is a VERY slim chance I'll have my mini then, more likely the week after the show. This is my first solo show, so I am really excited and nervous.

The work being shown is work from a children's book I am working on.

Sidenote Wagnbat: Your neighbor is my co-worker. She gave me a club card today!

Regrets that I shan't be able to make it. I do love art shows though. Some of my best friends frequent them. In my town it long ago degenerated into a social scene each month--only time one sees the chic set on the pavement with wine glass in hand strolling between galleries. I hope yours will attract people who are genuinely interested in your work. Very best wishes for a succcessful show.

Neighbor? My nearest neighbor is a 1 legged gimp named leiutenant Dan, and he lives 4 blocks away in a cedar tree.

Hehehe... Actually, she said she had a friend who was getting a Mini, and would like to join a Mini club. I said 'cool, let me give you a card for her'. She didn't mention you were already on the Nam forums. Not that she would have known.

Maybe we can wash Mini's together sometime. I've had quite a few neighbors raise eyebrows at my frequent washes, and even had a friend come and wash theirs too (Krut has no outside water delivery tools, so he drives a dirty Krutmobile). j/k Krut! Not that he'll read this either, he hates art.

thanks for the support

I want to say thank you for all the kind words. It was really hard for me to start doing art. I went to school for graphic design and it took me awhile. So this show means a lot to me. I am proud of the work and I think that is the most important - I hope others like it to. It should be a good show.

Crafty bastards - I would recommend going earlier in the day. last year it was laid back in morning, got a bit hectic in the afternoon, and was slow late in the day. I can say last year we sold out of our more popular items by 1pm. Please if you go, stop by our booth space - 2chicks! We will have signs and wearing shirts (hard to miss) Also we are collecting items for children affected by katrina. Things like: Crayons, Coloring books, small stuffed animals, Markers, Notepads (both blank or lined), Mini toy cars, Bubbles, Journals, Pens, Color pencils, pencil sharpeners, Card decks, Mini travel games, Books, Craft sets, Activity sets, *****, etc.

Thank you all again - hope to see ya there!

Note - Wagnbat: i can say I may take you up on the offer. I know I need some schooling on how to properly detail a car. your neighbor told me about you awhile ago about you LOVING you car and out there cleaning it.

Lots of us here on NAM are artists! There's even a thread about it somewhere in Off Topic!

Best wishes, sagworks! The first show is an amazing thrill! Have fun, and be sure to have a friend come and take pix of you with your work and plenty of pix of your display! Wish I could be back East to see your stuff....looks good online!

thanks for the reminder - and an '06 might be there

As an added bonus I am planning as of now (and with no problems with the dealer) I pick up my new '06 tomorrow (Friday), so I'll have that on display too (kinda).

When are you picking it up?? I can do a recon mission tonight and see if I can sneak some pre-pictures of Minerva! Sometimes it's dangerous to live so close to a dealership!

It's official - Minerva the '06 mini will be at the show

I have just returned from picking her up and dinner. Not sure if I'll let other people drive her, but I know I hppily show her off. Hopefully I'll get my few installs done beforehand.

Man she is so swanky. I love her! Oddly though she did not arrive w/ wheel caps - so they will be mailed to me. Other than she is so nice. Also Sterling switched who does their insishield's. They are now done by roadblock and they are AWESOME. I actually had to ask if it was installed b/c I did not see it.
