Got rear ended by a Porsche...
Got run into from behind Sat by a 'lady' in a Porsche 928 S.
Probably around 5 m.p.h. or a wee bit more. Damage to MINI zero. Not even a scratch. Her big plastic bumper lined up with the MINIs pretty well. She busted out a small plastic grill on the front of her 928 but nothing major.
She was really upset and apologetic. "I'm so sorry I hit your beautiful car!" Aah, the old 'flatter the person you just ran into trick'. It wasn't even 'meet cute' as she was a bit older than me.
I was waiting to pull onto a highway from a left side entrance/merge. She pulled so close and off center in the lane that I couldn't see oncoming traffic in my right mirror any more so I moved up about two feet. She saw me start moving then just turned to look back and launched without looking forwards again, only to discover I hadn't left yet.
It was raining lightly and I even had my rear fog light on. Guess I need
a strobe or something.
Weird thing is it happend up in Pennsylvania (on my way to the Imports at Carlisle show) I always figured if I ever got hit it would be here in northern Virginia where our state flower is the middle finger
and a red light seems to mean floor it...

If you had to be hit from behind that might not have been a bad way to experience it. Perhaps that was the quota of hits for the remainder of your MINI life. A 928S? Vintage car. Maybe she was headed to the same show. Interesting observation about your state flower.
That stinks, glad to hear your ride is okay though. Maybe she'll go buy a clue now that she messed up her mazda wanna be. (for the record I LOVE porsche but the only if it has the engine behind the driver where it belongs)
Glad to hear that you are both okay and the damage was minimal - whew!!! Could have been lots worse and REALLY ruined your day...

Funny thing about the state flower: it's just as legal as VA's number 1 export crop - marijuana. I don't know if it's a state-wide ban, or just a Richmond ban, but it is illegal to give someone the finger in traffic. It's considered "road-rage" now.
I love over-legislation.

Imagine that - a woman who wasn't paying attention!

State Flower??
I used to live in VA before I moved to DC. I think you may have said the punchline a little wrong. The middle finger ISN'T the state flower, but rather the state BIRD. Ba-dum BUM.
That being said, I'm glad you didn't get hurt! Too many people in too big a hurry here.

Carlisle...
...was fun. The red Wet Okole's attract a LOT of attention everywhere I go. There were about 4 other new MINI's on the field. Two or three classics. It was a better turn out overall than the last few years.
I had a lot of fun at the vendors on Friday. There were Die-Cast MINI's everywhere. Sat I stayed with the car most of the day. Had to take my hat off around lunch time, my head was so swollen from all the compliments on the car
Sun I went to the Good Guys Hot Rod and Custom show (where the MINI had to just park with the 'normal' non show cars. Must have been a 1000 hot rods. Very cool show

Here's one that will be of special interest... Not a MINI or Mini, a Vespa... But still, I expect someone on NAM to get busy. And I want a ride when they're done. The photo below is NOT a Photoshop hack. There are a coupl more of this car on the above page. I've even got a 10 second quicktime of the engine running

I've had the Porsche engines in the front, and the RUF engines in the back, don't knock the front engine V8's until you've tried it
A lot of the 928 folks love those cars like we love our MINIs.Sorry to hear about the accident, glad to hear there was no damage.
