DCMM AFTER Holidays Party NOW FEB 5!!!!
DCMM AFTER Holidays Party 1-22-05
Ok, Santa has come and gone. Hopefully he left you a little something under your tree. Do you like it? Would you rather it go to one of your favorite MINI friends? Yes, you guessed it. It is that time again.
It is time for the Annual AFTER Holidays Party.
Last year, despite the cramped quarters, we had a blast. This year, I've found a bigger locale.
Details:
When: January 22, 2005
Time: 5pm until later
Where: Anchorage Club at the Coast Guard Telecommunications and Information Systems Command located at 7323 Telegraph Road in Alexandria VA
What to Bring:
A Dish to Share (please RSVP with your dish, so we don't wind up with 50 green bean casseroles. Keep in mind, this is a potluck, so when I say bring to share -- I mean bring enough to share with about 10 people. Bring the serving tools needed; plates and forks and such will be there, though)
A gift to "re-gift" in the Yankee Gift Exchange (if you liked all your gifts, please bring one valued at less than $20. In order to participate you need to have a gift)
A few bucks for beverages (we cannot bring our own, but a full bar will be available, prices range from a buck for a soda to a few bucks for top shelf mixed drinks)
Your photo ID (you will not be allowed to get on the base without it -- plus the barkeep just might card you
. Also, note: photo ID is required for the driver and EVERYONE over the age of 18)
Your sense of humor and desire for a good time
Is there a fee for all this fun???
Yes, I'm sorry, but we have to pay for the club (we are renting it out for the night) and the barkeep. It is $10 per person. This is a Members ONLY event. If you are not a member, Join the club; then join us.
The fee is payable via paypal with Jen (she's taking the RSVPs), so please RSVP to her at events@dcmetrominis.org
Can't wait to see you all there,
PB

Other important information...
After passing through the gate, go straight down the road and make the fourth left. The first left will be just a few feet from the gate, the second will be into a parking lot, and the third will be a driveway.
After you make the left, just find a parking spot, The Anchorage Club is the building on the left (you really can't miss it).
If those directions don't make any sense, you can ask the gate guard, and they will point you in the right direction
- The party is being held on a military base, so as mentioned above please make sure that everybody in your car over 18 has a photo ID with them.
- If you do not have a DOD or USCG decal on your vehicle you will be stopped at the gate. Just tell the gate guard that you are headed to The Anchorage Club for an event. They may take some information down about your vehicle and give you a visitors pass.
- If it's after dark when you arrive, please switch off your headlights and use your parking lights as you approach the gate. Otherwise your headlights blind the gate guard.
- Depending on the security posture of the base on the day of the event your vehicle may be searched before being allowed on the base. This is nothing to be concerned about and is typically nothing more than what you might undergo when trying to park at the Ronald Reagan Building downtown. Just be polite and follow the instructions of the gate guard and things should go quickly and smoothly.
- PLEASE do not go exploring on the base! Trust me, I worked there for four and a half years, there's nothing interesting there!

I know, I know....I'll be quiet now.Actually, in truth, for anyone who doesn't know I'm totally joking, there is little to no humor about exploring around. Get past the gate and go to the club, park and party. It is a safe and fun place --- but the poor honor guard boys and girls don't need you poking around the place.
Hugs,
PB
Sounds like a great time you all. Wish we could be there to partake in the fun....

So what is everyone bringing?
Happy New Year!!
I am looking forward to seeing you all on the 22nd. Any particular dish I should bring? Here my Italian options , of course, you guys decide among: Lasagna, Tortellini alla Panna (heavy cream w/ ham, sweet peas and mushrooms), Antipasto: Mozzarella Cheese, salami, provolone etc., or Tiramisu. Let me know by the Tuesday before so I can shop and schedule the time to prepare the dish.
PS: my Tiramisu is "educated" (which means that there is liquor in it)
PPS: Presents (even below $20) don't need to UGLY and cheap OK??

Actually, other than the "Party in a box" (who did bring that) I think we saw some creative gifts last year. There was tons from Starbucks (I still love my thermos). There was a tire repair kit that was stolen a few times. Actually, I'm wondering if Tom will get to keep any of his gifts this year.
We bought one of the two things we are bringing. I haven't figured out what the second item will be; but we shall see.
Prized heirlooms this is not to be -- good old fashioned fun, Yes sirree.
Hugs,

may I suggest a shirt to go with my Cooper S Hat?
Yes, I was lucky but I saw some presents... well... the one I remember in my nightmares was the dancing golf bag. Maybe there is some charm in it.. I haven't decided what to bring this year...another Starbucks card???
OK 1 Tiramisu right now...
PS: We begun the new year with a great ride on the Eastern Shore. Sunday the weather was GREAT and,of course, the Little Ones were always open...

First off being a military club, if you wear a hat inside... You will have to buy the ENTIRE bar a round... Dem's the rules.
We could wrap you guys in aluminum foil and use you to calibrate the new antennas they just put in there...

Tom
WOW, people are still talking about the hat
. I was the one who brought it last year
as it was given to me by Crown MINI of Richmond but since I don't really wear hats I decided to give it away....

Those of you who have RSVP'd to the events@dcmetrominis.org address should be getting PayPal requests for the $10 per person event fee. If you have RSVP'd in any other manner - please send an e mail to the above address also so that we can send you a request for the event fee.
We are requesting that everyone pay in advance with Pay Pal or a check. If you don't want to use PayPal, please tell me that in your RSVP and I will send you the address of our treasurer to send your check to.
Thanks.
Jen
