Please don't bring soda!!! That's the one thing we can't bring in. Sodas will have to be purchased from the bar. I'm sorry, but it is the one request they made. However, "horse do overs" sound yummy. If people talk nicely about me, I might be willing to make some of my more famous items. However, since I get to see the full list, my stuff will be a surprise.

Hugs,
PB

Paper goods and utensels would be fine.

I was just over at The Anchorage Club yesterday, they've done A LOT of work to the place lately. There's plenty of seating for everybody, but I'm not sure about serving space. We might need 1 or two extra folding tables...

I will bring some sort of veggie and dip tray, probably two of them, which should be enough for the whole crowd.

We need to be sure that whoever made that great salad and the BBQ comes!!!

There is a stereo, TV's, pool table (bring quarters), shuffle board (free), and foosball (free, and I'll team up with anybody for some foos!)

I'm pretty sure we can bring some tunes with us...

And if all else fails, you could stare at the walls!

ooo shuffleboard and foosball and staring at the walls. This sounds like more fun than my old self can handle...whoooo-eeee!

Does the stereo play CD's?

How 'bout a pinata for grins and giggles, besides the gift exchange?

I can bring paper goods.

99% sure the stereo does, as for the pinata I'm also pretty sure we can do that, provided we clean up afterwards. Worse comes to worse we can hang that from a tree outside and beat up on it in the dark!

Hi,

Idea Lady here, if there is a bit of open area, say a dance floor, what if we had some rc car cone racing. You know just like you did when you were a kid. We could make it competitive if we have too mmmhhmm John Jonathan Paddy are you listening? Just an idea. Nobody wants to see ME dance. thats for sure.
People should not have to eat food I make so I would like to bring some type of dessert. It wont beat authentic tiramusu but it will look sorta pretty. I can't cook but damn am I a baker! toot toot. my own horn!

While we have the entire building, we won't have quite that much room. We actually did that during the Chili Cookoff at the Dragon last year...

C'mon peeps....the more the merrier. Bring the RC cars....what the heck. I'm gonna bring a pinata. Anyone have a baseball bat?
Bring your favorite party/dance CDs.
I've got the paper products covered and I'm bringing a yummy appeteaser(pun intended).
Parties are as fun as you make them, so let's make this one a blast like last year!!!

Sorry!!!!!

I meant to post this sooner but totally forgot about it...

We will be having a Yankee Gift Swap that night.... (other people call it other things)

Anyway for those of you not familiar with the concept here are the rules:
1. All gifts should be wrapped, please try and keep them to under $20 in value. Feel free to re-gift that “dud” gift you got for the holidays! All gifts should be wrapped in such a manner that it is impossible to tell what the item is until it’s opened.
2. Make sure that the outer wrapping does not indicate who the gift is from. It’s ok to find out who the gift is from after it’s been opened, just not before.
3. Each person participating will get a randomly drawn number which will determine when they will get to choose a gift.
4. You CANNOT select your own gift at any time! (However if you want to work out a trade after we completely finish up, that’s fine).
5. The person with ball #1 will select first. They will open the gift and display it for all to see.
6. The person with ball #2 will then have the option of either taking person #1’s gift or selecting and unwrapping a new gift, and so on.
7. If a person has a gift taken from them, they then have the option of either selecting and unwrapping a new gift, or taking somebody else’s gift (but not the gift that was just taken from them -- if they get it back in future rounds awesome, but you can't steal back what was JUST stolen from you). Before a new person selects a gift, all persons before them must have a gift.
8. HAVE FUN!!! I know it sounds silly to say this. However, at a gift exchange like this sometimes participants forget that this is supposed to be fun and things get ugly…

I know it sounds a little complicated, but once we get started it will all make sense…

In order to keep things moving, like last year once an item has been "stolen" 3 times, it cannot be stolen again. So if you make the third steal of an item, it's yours to keep...

The RSVP count is up to 17 folks. Please remember when RSVPing to send an e mail to the events address -- even if you RSVP here. This is so we can take care of the Event Fee in advance. We do have to pay for this party place.

I think we have something like 100 paid members, so where are you all this Saturday night? Please come out and party with us.

Jen

Attendance Update

19 people have RSVP'd to take. Three have RSVP'd regrets. It would be nice to have a good showing. We had more folks at the last several events - event for the incredibly cold night in Annapolis. So please consider coming out and joining us.

For weather updates - please stay tuned to this thread. At this point the party is on and we do not plan to cancel, but the cancellation policy of the Club is being checked in case the weather situation goes south on us.

While I didn't let a hurricane (or at least the threat of one) scare me away from holding the last event I organized... I'm very concerned about this one. Wind and rain don't bother me that much, but I'm concerned about everyone making the trek out in 4+ inches of snow.

We're still waiting for the club to get back to us on the weather cancellation policy. At this point that is the driving factor here.

We're looking at two possible scenarios at this point based on what the club tells us:
Scenario 1: Outright cancellation
Scenario 2: Postpone the event a week or more...

Stay tuned, I'll definately post an update here once I know more, and try to get an e-mail out as well, but I don't know if it will get out in time...

yeah, they're predicting 3-7". What a total bummer. At least I haven't bought the pinata yet.
If we postpone, we must make every effort to make sure that the newbies know about it.
I vote for postponing, not outright cancelling

As a newbie and rally cryer, I agree, I say if anything we postpone. Always up for a good party!

If we cancel, that means I don't get any homemade lasagna, so that wouldn't work. Another vote for postponement (if need be)!

-Paul!

PS - Why did you schedule the party during a snowstorm anyway?
