Darn - this is going to be tough to make. Why so early? 5:30pm? People have to deal with rush-hour traffic, leaving work early, etc.
Why not the 8:15pm showing instead?
It's a wonderful idea, and I definitely want to go, but I'm not sure I can make it to such an early showing on a weekday.
If there is a "second group" that wants to see the later showing instead, I'd be up for that. Not to take away from your idea, Chris... many kudos for suggesting this - I didn't even realize that they filmed parts of The Dark Knight with IMAX cameras until your thread!

Hmm... 8.15 pm show will work as well.
But I'm afraid that some might have already got the ticket for 5.30 pm show.
Tickets gone really fast though.
Also I'd like to roaming around the museum a little bit, since they're still openned til 7.30 pm on the day.
To avoid confusing, I will be at 5.30 pm show as plan and will stay to greet the second group on the 8.30 pm show.

Tickets are sold out through the weekend already (including the 5:30pm showing that Chris organized), except for 11pm showings on Sunday night!
There's a group of other friends (non-MINI owners) who are thinking of going next week instead, so I'll probably have to join them.

Correction: I have checked with the place, there still be tickets available for the day (Friday, August 1st), 5.30pm and 8.30pm show.
Online tickets are not available yet, but ones can call the theatre directly and purchase it through them.

Awesome...awesome...awesome...
I had a really great "IMAX Experience".
I watched "the Dark Knight" last week at a regular theatre in columbia, It is totally different. At IMAX, it likes watching different movies.
I'd say, please do watch it in IMAX format. You'll love it.
Btw, thanks to minimobile for stopping by and sharing the IMAX expeience.
National Air & Space Museum

We arrived at 4.30pm, an hour before the showtime, well, not only us though.

In the theatre before the feature presentation, We spent almost 1/2 hour watching the sky on the hugh, 6 stories high, screen. And after watching the movie, it was worth every bit.

And Maxi @ the museum........
