Bad idea. The rear is a tighter fit than the front. The rears are what rubs when you're lowered with wide tires.
You have a very narrow window when it comes to 19" tires on these cars, especially if the car is lowered. Fortunately others have done the research and trial fitting, so pay careful attention to the wheel offset and tire sizes that others have used and don't risk trying something else or you'll end up with something that doesn't fit.
Our car is lowered slightly (NM springs) with 19x8.5+42 wheels with 245/40/19 tires. The rears rubbed the plastic fender arches when hitting big dips in the road for a few thousand miles, until the plastic arches wore down... so there is no room for a lower offset or more width, it just won't fit.

JohnJohn, I'm thinking of the same setup as yours...the RSe14 wheels with 245-40-19's. What happened with the rubbing long term? I have the standard (not factory sport) suspension and am not planning any suspension mods. Thanks.

Got my tyres changed two days ago, I swapped to the Michelin Pilot Super Sport,
I've seen a -2.3 Camber in the rear and 0camber in the fronts. Is this actually correct? Mines the CTMS ALL4 with sports suspension
However, the countryman didn't come up on the hunter machine, So we used the R56 instead, Will this affect the alignment?
Not sure if the fronts were 0 stock?

Yes, this is the current info for a 12' CM s All 4.
It will def. differ from an R56.
The machine your place has probably just doesnt have the newest software installed. or the user doesnt know how to properly look it up.

There is less road noise and no more bump steer.
The back rubs slightly in the back. I'm going to file the plastic down just a little and that should go away. I do have the factory sports suspension.

Let me know how that works for you. I am 18x8 et 34 but I am also running vmaxx springs and am rubbing a little. Only when the kids are in the back.

And had the NM springs and I was rubbing the back a lot, even with the proper alignment (LCA's) that's because the stock shock absorbers. I removed the NM springs for now, I think I will go with the MEGANS coil overs.
I would like to get coilovers, but I fear having worse rubbing issues. Right now, it only rubs with people sitting in the back. Would stiffer coilovers prevent rubbing even though it lowers the ride height slightly? I currently have the Sports Suspension.

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead BUT I have some questions for all of you. I don't want to be bashed for doing anything you all don't approve of but im going to ask in hopes of solid, educated, unbiased answers. Ive got a paceman and I am planning on going either 19s or 20s soon. For the front I plan on either x8.5 or x9. For the rears though, i want to go more towards the x10 area. What are the camber setting you all are running with the 19x8.5s. From pictures it looks like hardly any at all. I also see all the wider section width tires which make it look like there is even less room for improvement. I've currently got a clubman that sits pretty low and has some lower offset wheels on it and I love the way it sits, so i am trying to come close to replicating that. Like i said, I really don't want to get slammed with people telling me how dumb I am or what i will "mess up." Thanks for the help in advance!

I can tell you that a 10" wheel will def. NOT fit because of the limited space that's back there unless you get a custom made wheel with at least a 52 offset or higher, if you take your stock wheel off and look up in the wheel well you will see what I am talking about as far as the room. I contemplated going back to a 19' but ultimately could only find an aftermarket wheel I loved in an 18" so I just did a larger contact patch tire. Also I need to mention I am on Meagan racing springs which provide me with a 1.8 drop so that makes a difference too. I went with a 18x8.5 with a 235x40x18 and absolutely love my ride and performance!!! I believe that ultimately your wheels are the most important MOD you can do because it sets the tone for the direction of style your vehicle is going to be , race inspired, luxury, sport, ETC,ETC.... so take your time, do a lot of research and take advantage of this site and learn from other peoples experiences before going down that road of shoulda woulda, coulda, I wish I did before I made my first BAD& costly decision but good luck with whatever you decide hope this helped a little....that's my .02 cents
I originally went with a 20' wheel just to be unique and trend setting most people here told me not to I didn't do much research or look through many threads here before I did it anyway...I loved the way it looked but def. limited myself as far as practicality and using my CM for what I bought it for. The 20's were a 20x8.5 with a 38 offset and rubbed like crazy especially during spirited driving, and don't even get me started about when I added cargo or passengers to the mix! I felt every bump and had to drive extremely cautiously to avoid messing up the 35 series tires I had to run. I can tell you that a 10" wheel will def. NOT fit because of the limited space that's back there unless you get a custom made wheel with at least a 52 offset or higher, if you take your stock wheel off and look up in the wheel well you will see what I am talking about as far as the room.
