Cooper with K&N airfilter, JCW exhaust, MTH header. Whats next?

Hi

I have a Cooper with the following mods:

- JCW exhaust
- K&N Open Airfilter (57i)
- MTH Header with MTH Tuner file (MTH claims 143 pk)

Whats the next performance mod I can do on my Cooper?

Light wheels with stickey tires, cam and head (see www.webbmotorsports.com) and, for the biggest horsepower upgrade, various chrome and carbon fiber pieces!

+ a larger TB.

P.S. How do you like the MTH? How noticable was the improvment after you got it? I am thinking of making this my next mod.

You already got that on the new one? What size? Any issues?

brakes? Assuming you're using that newfound power on a track, anyway.

Definitely tires, maybe wheels if you have something heavy on there right now.

helmet + track time

Is it difficult to fit it in the MINI Cooper? Which size is best for me?

I believe 58mm is the only option for the Cooper.

I started off with the original Version 2 which up to that point had been used on the MC's through 2005 without issues. Throttle response was noticeably improved. There was also a slightly changed induction sound and my uncalibrated butt dyno noticed some (not a lot of) additional power.

On my 2006, the ECU would periodically throw the EML and SES lights with the original Version 2. There was no change in performance with the EML and/or SES lights on and the car never went into limp mode. Again, this hasn't been an issue on the 2002-2005 MC's, just on my 2006.

Due to the lights I returned the original Version 2 and got a new version made to address the issue with the 2006's. (note: there is not formal new name that I'm aware of, so let's just call it the Version 2.006).

With the Version 2.006 the plate was not machined (the milled velocity stack inlet and outlet are still present, as is the machined actuator rod). The Version 2.006 does not trigger the EML and SES lights on my 2006 MC. To me there seems to be no discernable difference in performance between the Version 2 and Version 2.006. So if you have a 2006 MC, just be sure to let them know that so you get the right version. Otherwise, if you have an earlier car, there shouldn't be any issues.
