Sprint Booster Tech assist

First, I like the SB improvements. A very noticeable improvement over stock. The throttle hesitation from a stop is all but eliminated and the linear amplification also helps the ECU optimize up/down shifts to keep the engine in the sweet spot for spirited driving. Kind of like Sport mode+.

I have been working with the folks at ECS to resolve an issue. They are accommodating with 2x returned units but I think my car is rejecting the SB like a virus due to a reason that is not tripping any codes.

The problem is no matter how long I leave the door open for the install, limp mode is present. I get the reduced power warning and chime. Turn off and restart = it works as advertised.

Remove the SB = no codes, drives and operates fine.

I have tried every iteration of install directions with no luck.

OBDII scanner will not reveal any valid codes. Just P11CE which I understand is a nuisance fault code. (I work avionics systems so fault code means trouble code for me). If this is wrong then please let me know what it is.

Anyone else have this problem? I am on my 3rd SB, all quickly replaced by the folks at ECS.

I just may be doomed to accept stock. Oh well, its justa commuter to save fuel vs. ~14-17mpg from my F350 and LR3.

Was considering buying one and want to follow if anyone chimes in. Have you/they double checked to make sure it is the correct model for your car? Sometimes Mini changed things up without telling anyone.

Sounds like you are getting old stock that doesn't work with the newer cars so no matter how many of the older software you get it won't work.
We have the latest version of the Sprint Booster in stock designed for the newest software in the car.

In my opinion, no. I tried one several yrs ago and it was interesting but overpriced. Basically, it just makes the throttle more sensitive but produces no extra horsepower. I kept mine about 2 weeks and returned it for a full refund. If the price had been $100, I probably would have kept it. A cheaper alternative is the D1 Spec Throttle Controller http://www.aj-racing.com/shop/produc...1&cat=0&page=1 which was reviewed on the 1st Gen forum sometime ago.

As someone who had it prior to a tune, it was worth the money in my opinion. Definitely put a grin on my face. Didn't give any additional horse power, but it was like pushing the "sport" button even better. The throttle response was night and day in my opinion. The "sport" setting was good enough for me, but the "race" setting was a little too touchy for my taste. When i got my tune from NM and put the race setting on, I ended up blowing off my Hotside NM piping. Probably due to not being installed properly though. Drove back to NM had then reinstall the pipe and drove home with a smile the whole way. This obviously was due to the tune and sb on at the same time.

Worth it? Sure if you are not expecting true performance. Do not be misled, this is not a power gain mod. It is simply an enhancement to the way the car reacts to the pedal on the right. Yeah it could be cheaper.

I think there is a mismatch for the application. Maybe a SB for a 12' might work.

Same problem

Did you ever get your issue resolved? My r55 is doing the same thing.
