Addressing the Electrical System after swapping CVT for a 6 Speed Getrag
I have a 2003 Mini with a catastrophic CVT. I bought everything that I needed and successfully over the Memorial Day weekend swapped the transmission and upgraded to a 2005 Getrag 6 Speed. I have 2 wires that are from the transmission and I need to know if I have to swap out the ECM and the wiring harness, or can I have the ECM flashed. If flashed, do all the wires that are currently unplugged become inoperable in the ECM loop??
Pictured are the two sensor plugs that are left. Outside of that it was a very simple conversion!!
Any help on the electrical side would be appreciated. After I get the electrical side figured out, I will post the procedure to NAM so that everyone can remove that lame CVT from their Mini - Blessings

I wanted to help so I googled this. Seems like you need an ECU set up for your car... Way can reprogram them he says in the thread.

This is purely my experience of cars talking, not experience in the swap you're doing.
You'll need to have your DME re-flashed to auto trans, as well as maybe the BCM and Kombi.
Another issue you may have is the anti-theft system in our cars also sends the signal to crank the starter, and if it's expecting an input from your auto trans gear selector you may have to have that changed to a manual trans one or reflashed if that's even possible on those.

I will put the new brakes on tonight. After jumping the wires on the silver box to the left of the clutch pedal, I have fired the motor up and everything is in working order with the exception of the service engine soon light. I will be contacting Way Motor Works to get the ECM flashed. But, before that happens, I will be taking it out on the road tonight. Everything seems to be fully operational at this point and I am not finding that anything so far has been disabled. I will update this post tommorow, after my initial test drive!
