I have a 2006 non s. Can the factory supercharger bolt directly into my car and without the intercooler? Its been in my mind for awhile now. I just never get too much of a look at an s to see if it can be done. And is there a pulley that I can get to run less boost?
You can't put a SC on a R50 without reworking the entire engine and ECU.
The R50 compression ratio is 10.3:1, way to high for SC.
The R53 has a CR of 8.3:1, this allows for more compression from SC.
The R50 crankshft, rods, pistons are all different than those on the R53.
The valves on the R53 head are softer than those on R53 because they don't have to handle the heat of a SC induction.
It would be cheaper to just buy R53.
For performance on the R50, start at the head.
Get a stage 1 porting, NS-1 cam, stock valves & springs.
Bigger injectors.
Header & exhaust system.
Performance tune!

Yeah I know that. But I can get a 1 mm head gasket and lower the compression. and if I can get a pulley that reduces boost it should work. I am aware that the engine is not set up for it. My friend has an evo with 40 whp and a stock motor running 23 psi. Its not going to last as long as the stock set up but he has been daily driving it for 4 years now with no problems so far. I mostly just want to know if it will bolt on?
Well, I gotta say it.
It is only a stupid ???? if you don't want to listen to the excellent answer that vollgas just gave you.
Why would you want to puke a perfectly good engine?
From what I have learned just from reading this forum is that there are plenty of things you can do to increase the performance of your car without destroying the engine that is already in it.

The bosses are on the block, but:
1) you'd have to find a way to get the air from the SC to the intake manifold (the stock 'horn' curves up to the intercooler)
2) running boost w/o an i/c = BIG intake temps
3) no underboost pulley available
4) aforementioned internals
5) parts would add up quickly - s/c, tensioner, bypass valve, etc
Not sure how the MC water pump is driven - the S drives the water pump off the end of the s/c.
In short, it's a bad idea, but hey it's your time and money.

If you want S straight line pull, sell your R50 and spend the extra few grand to trade it for an S. If you want to make your R50 quicker and more fun, upgrade the suspension, get a CAI, exhaust, etc. I'm told a JCW head is a good mod as well.
Just my opinion.

Everything that has been said here is on point for sure. If you want the straight line fun of the S, then sell the R50 and grab the S. If you want to have fun with the R50:
1. Rear Swaybar
2. Intake
3. Exhaust
4. Lowering Springs (TSW is my choice, but H&R, H-Sport, M7, all good as well)
Then, you R50 will be more responsive, sound aggressive, look a bit more aggressive with the lowering, but be much more planted and handle like a dream! The R50 has a ton of potential to be fun, you just got to be happy with the idea that it won't be straight out fast as a R53.

Well one thing I do know is that I am not going to lower my car. I wont make it up my drive way. Other than coil over kits, is there any spring that will not lower my car? Or should I just do sway bar upgrades?
May have to look into both. I was also looking for some good exhaust. Nothing too loud. What do you think of borla? I know they make good quality and are usually prety quiet. Is there any other brands that would be comparable for a little less money?
