Megan MR-CBS-MC02NS on an 2010 r56 non-s?

as the title implies, i've been searching google and this forum all day. im not sure if im using the wrong key words or what but i am certianly a newbie ive had my mini since oct 1st 2010 and the car has a lil over 2600 miles but i cant seem to find an exhaust for the non-s. was hoping someone could tell me if the above item would work if someone has already tried it. or if someone knows of a company wo produces one or should i just go to a custom shop and get it done.

Thanks
Kevin

To answer your question there is no exhaust that I know of out right now. I've emailed a few companies to find out if they were going to release one and the response back has pretty much been the same, "No because there is not a high demand for them." I suggest just taking it to a custom shop and have them put one on for you. I did my own by using parts from a auto shop and buying a muffler. Good luck.

I've been searching as well and have found a few options:

VIP Customs makes a Cat Back and 1st muffler back that can be found here: http://vipcustomparts.com/vcp%20exhaust%20page.htm

Supersprint makes a complete system, but it is sold in pieces and is exorbitantly expensive:
http://www.eurosportdesign.com/c-135-coupe-r56-07.aspx

Remus makes a cat back as well:
http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/G2.../InvDetail.cfm

I have no affilliation with any of these websites, this is just what I've turned up looking for options for myself personally.

inputs is greatly appreciated, however ive looked into and asked all these companies seem to require cutting my stock and welding to it. hmmmm dunno about you i dont like the idea. and id prefer to keep my stock one for future purposes.

so i have devised that i will collect the correct parts including a vband flange thats an exact match for the stock one, and create a custom 3in catback exhaust. when i do get around to this ill be sure to post a build in the forums here.

i just find it perplexing that noone even offers our exhaust. not everyone can afford the s let alone the insurance. i live in philly and im 22, highly doubt the payments would be less then 400 a month for just my insurance, not including my car loan!

oh well such is live. thanks for you info. and keep me posted on what you wind up doing with yours

I'm surprised as well that there aren't more (or really any) full exhaust options. Good luck with your custom set up, that's probably the best way to go.

Can I ask why a 3 inch? Thats pretty huge for a non-turbo. I have a 2.25 on mine and I find it to be prefect and at times a little loud.

The SuperSprint exhaust is VERY costly! Up to about $1200 for the total. And it's a "Race system" and I really don't see why someone would be racing the non s Mini.

Also, I'm shocked that VIP finally released their exhaust I had been talking to them since I originally purchased my Mini back in July of 09 about making one and they said that they were on hold ever since then with other higher demand parts being produced. Remus I'll leave them be I haven't heard to much about them. I've seen them a little bit before but they are a saw off and use your prior exhaust type.

I don't know if you're interested in a cat-back or not, but Megan Racing has one for the Gen 2. For a long time I saw it offered only for Gen 1's, now it seems to fit both.

HERE is a link.

The price isn't awful... And I here they sound great.

Just finished reading the description of the product and looking again at their website. The drop link only has 1st Gen and the product you listed is for 1st Gen. There's a V-band to connect our exhaust to the header not a flange. I'm now awaiting a reply back from Megan right now to see if they are going to produce something with how long our model has been out. But the 1st time it was the same as the rest of the companies I contacted. No due to not a big enough demand for non-S models. I'll let you know as soon as I find anything out about them.

tmo, the weird thing is that Megan Racing's site says 2002+. It doesn't say 02-06 like most Gen 1 only parts.

Then I found THIS SITE where they say '02-'11 for the same exhaust. They even use the exact same pics as Megan Racing. What gives?

Albie, I assure you that the two gens use different exhaust. The flange hook up is different. 1st gen uses a bolt on flange and 2nd gen uses a V-band. I know this due to the fact of how many time I've had mine up on a lift working on my exhaust myself. Also you have to factor in the body sizes as well. Have you looked up if the two were the same in length? This would affect the mounting and length in piping and where the bends were as well. Put your car up on a lift and then compare the picture of this exhaust to how your factory exhaust looks to it. Or look it up online. I spent some time looking for exhaust myself and going back and forth with companies last year looking for one. If Megan does make one THIS one is not the one that is going to work for ours. No matter if the product listing says 02+ or 02-2011. Both have the same pictures and no drop links for what year your car is.

My gut is with you, tmo... As much as I'd like to believe this would work for me, I'm thinking some schmo on a computer just added the + sign to get my hopes up.

Some sites are also notorious for not updating pics to reflect what the current product looks like and that flange could have changed. I contacted them, as well so we'll see what they say.

That flange wouldn't have changed. They would have to still have two different products.........lol. They stopped making 1st gen coopers lol. So they would have to cover both models still. They can't make one model of a exhaust to work with both gen's of cars.

Got a email from Meganracing last night here's what it said. Copy and paste now...... "We have no plan for the non-S Mini Cooper exhaust at least any time soon. There still has not been enough demand to warrant any future steps taken towards the production of an exhaust for this application. "

I e-mailed them, too - got the same response. I also suggested that they update their site...

Just for kicks, if anyone is interested in a cat-back exhaust from Megan Racing, respond to THIS post.
